Svt III line out problem

I brought my svtIII to rehearsal yesterday with the idea of using it at an upcoming gig instead of the rig I have been playing through. I bought the amp sometime ago and have used it mostly for practice at home. When I ran a line out to the PA, a horrible MMMMHHHH came through the speaker cabinet. This happened with both xlr and 1/4" out jacks. I don't have a lot of experience with sound and have a feeling that I'm missing something obvious. I'm reposting this hoping to get some help. Please and thank you.

Welcome to the world of ground loops. The loop is amp chassis to mains ground to a different mains ground (potential difference) to PA chassis through cable back to amp chassis. Try cutting and insulating the sleeve connection at one end of your cable used to connect your amp to the PA. If this does not work you will have to get a hum eliminator (Ebtech?). DO NOT DISCONNECT THE GROUNDS OF YOUR POWER CORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy cow! I have so much to learn, thanks for the reply. I really like this little amp and would like to play it out. I'm trying to find alternatives to a B5r that's a great amp, just really not my taste. Anyhow, money's tight and I value what I have so I will work with it. Thanks again.
