SVT-VR with a Portaflex 410HLF?

Would an SVT-VR paired with a PF410HLF be a good and workable setup.

I haven't found anything here about that setup (my search might have been crap, and if so, I'd love to have a link to a thread that addresses this) so I thought I'd ask.

My wife is looking for Xmas gift ideas and I'd like to upgrade my amp this year. I really want the tone of the SVT-VR, just don't want to pair it with the Fridge cause that is one big beast!

The SVT-410HLF is rated at 4ohm and would be a better match as a single 4x10" cabinet for a SVT-VR head. The SVT-VR will run either a 4 or 2 ohm load so you can run 2 of these cabinets as a maximum which would run the amp at 2ohm.

Or the SVT 620HLF.

I was looking at the SVT-212AV, but wasn't sure if it would handle the amp.

I'm new to amps--I've always used a combo amp due to living in an apartment most of my adult life. But now that I'll be getting a house, I want some more oomph, but especially the Ampeg SVT sound. I fell in love with it when I was in high school and got to demo one at a music story in Hollywood. That time, the SVT was hooked up to an 810, and I really don't want to lug around an 810 cab if i can get the same, or damned near close to the same, sound out of a smaller cab.

The Portaflex cam looked like it might be a good option, but seeing you mention the SVT-212AV, do you think that will get me closer to the tone of the SVT head with an 810 SVT AV cab?

I have a 2 12 av and run it with a PF 500 amp with no problems. I was running the PF with an 8 10 before that and the 2 12 does everything that the 8 10 did. Granted , I never pushed the 8 10 super hard (pushing an 8 10 really hard will cause nausea) but it and the 2 12 did well in a couple of fairly loud bands I was in. The 2 12 sounds VERY similar to the 8 10 too. I haven't heard any of the new 4 10s but I know the older ones sounded boomy and I didn't think they sounded anywhere near as good as the 8 10s. Supposedly , the newer ones sound better. Someone with some experience with the newer 4 10s might have a better insight than me if he hasn't been chased up a tree by an alligator.;)

IMO, the 212AV is the currently the best speaker cab that Ampeg makes...until you start to look into the NEO-series cabs--which I don't really like with the SVT-VR head. I'm sure the 212AV can handle the SVT-VR. It will sound similar to the 810E, but not exactly--given the 810E is sealed and the 212AV is ported. I would think that at relatively even volumes, the 212AV will have more low-end "oomph" compared to the 810E.

Can i add another SVT-212AV and make a stack running the SVT-VR head?

Thanks for the advice! I'll try to try out an SVT-VR qwith the SVT-212AV this weekend--going to a huge music store this Saturday to try out a few things and I hope this amp set up is one of them.
