SVT810E Restoration Project

Hey, how do you like the sound of those MOD50s? I've looked at some of the Mod series before, mostly the Mod15-200 and Mod12-110, but I've never been able to find any reviews of them being used for bass.

i think that they sound great in the cab, especially combined with the four 810E originals. IMO, they are closer to the old 30 watt original 10's that came in the straightback cabs. they bring out the upper mids & highs that i found to be lacking in certain years of the 810E (mine was one of them). with 1/2 and 1/2, my cab has more lows than the old 8x10 cabs, but the mids and highs are there too.

Im going to be getting the rust off of the feet cups today and then spraying them with a black enamel. Hopefully the rubber feet I ordered come in today also so i can get them installed along with the new wheels. Ill add pictures later tonight with the progress!

So I picked up some CLR yesterday to get the rust of the feet cups and after some soaking and scrubbing
there is still some rust that i just cannot get off.

I think im going to have a buddy of mine sandblast them for me when he gets a chance. I just need to find
the time to get them over to him.

Onto the wheels...

I took some masking tape and made two lines down the cab to line up the feet while marking the drill holes.
I also found out that sharpie's do not show up so well on black tolex. So as a last effort at midnight last night
I took some acrylic craft paint and put some dots where to drill the holes.

I marked the top two holes and then painted a solid line for the bottom two holes. This allowed me to get my
level out and make sure my wheels were level and then marked the bottom two holes with a sharpie on top of
the white paint. Worked out a lot better than I had thought.

i actually do have a sandblaster (gun and box), but i only use it on items that have nooks and crannies that you just can get to any other way. so for the cups, i'd use a dremel.

here's why i bought a sandblaster: ;)
