Swamp Ash vs. Regular Ash : Any tonal differences?

I have two Alder American Strats that feel and sound quite a bit different, both American Standards, different pieces of wood can give different sounds, even among the same species. It's a bit of a having a baby thing getting a new guitar built or bought, you don't quite know how it's going to be till it comes out. This is why some instruments are considered "special" by some discerning players. Among other differences in construction and hardware, that all add up to the final experience of playing, feeling, and hearing an instrument.

By the way, some swamp ash is light and some is about as heavy as the hard stuff!

Yup! I forgot to mention that my 10.5 lbs Rbass jazz 5er is made of "swamp" ash....you can even see the water stains! ;)
