Little bit of both, angle of pic and slightly longer body, looks more pronounced in that first pic I posted.

That is what I was wondering also. I was thinking it was either VVVT or VTVT and the two Jazz pickups were wired together.
Definitely has a Tractor Bass vibe about it - very cool! Too bad about the weight, but I’d bet it’s still a blast to play.
That’s what I was thinking. Super cool sled. Just get a fancy strap and play it. OP said he hadn’t opened it but I’m guessing 2 of the pickups must be wired together to manage.
I believe that's the case. I got to play it briefly, but it seemed like it was vol/tone vol/tone, with the jazz pickups wired together. In the noisy swap meet environment though it was tricky to tell if it had more of a series or parallel character.
Either way, very comfy bass to play and sounded nice. Definitely a very cool find!
Wow. That is one of the coolest builds I've ever seen. As others have said, those are all high quality parts from what I can see. Not sure what the pickups are, but I doubt they'd put junk in them after all the other effort they've gone through!
Like @Killing Floor said, get a 4" strap and rock that thing out! I bet it's a total beast, assuming the neck joint is nice and tight. I was just looking at walnut bodies the other day! Everything I have right now is some shade of blue, and while I love blue ... I also love walnut that has a beautiful grain pattern to it, and what you have there is gorgeous! It looks like a one-piece body. Is that right?
Is there something etched onto the neckplate, or am I just seeing some artful smudging?
I'm not an expert on verifying Fender authenticity, but is there maybe a chance that the neck is a real Fender neck from an older bass, maybe? The wear on it, if authentic, doesn't seem to match the body which seems to be in pretty good shape. Of course, I just might not be seeing a lot of rim rash and stuff that might be present. From what I can see from the top of the bass and that partial shot of the back, it looks to be in pretty nice shape without a lot of buckle rash, etc.
I just noticed the tape over the pole pieces, haha! How Billy Sheehan of them! lol!
Anywho, super cool bass, man. Awesome score. I hope you'll share more as you settle in with it!

Looks like an ash or oak body stained walnut to me. That's probably why it is heavy. I'm not a Fender guy, but that neck looks like it might be an actual Fender. But then again, what do I know?
<sigh> I miss Mighty Mite's Fender-licensed bodies. 
Looks like either copper or gold pearloid, hard to tell in the lighting.
