Anyone ever bought one? What was the issue with it? Is this just an "unofficial" sale similar to what Fender did with the Squiers recently?

Interesting. They have a few pieces I am interested in that are reduced. Naturally I am firmly on the fence....Mine was listed as having “finish blemishes”. One of the online pics showed an example where the finish looked worn through.
When I received it, yup, finish in the creases along the back side of the body looked thin.
It was a Gibson Thunderbird (2018) and I think I paid under $900. It’s been one of my two number one players since then.
It’s got a nitro finish, and I’ve put many more blemishes on it, a few hundred gigs later.
Sweetwater "scratch and dents" are often what other retailers would sell you as brand new, etc. They are very up front about the condition of the instruments so if there are blemishes they'll photo them or at least describe them in detail. Very reliable IMO.Interesting. They have a few pieces I am interested in that are reduced. Naturally I am firmly on the fence....
Pics???Well, I stepped back from the edge and made the highly un-sexy / infinitely less satisfying purchase of a power supply and cables I needed and originally went to the site for instead of an instrument. Stingray will have to wait for another day....
On the other hand, if this were a 4 string, I would be waiting at their door this morning to pick it up...
