Swiss Army Basses

I just thought of one more Swiss Army Bass: A Lakland 55-94, -or if you're a 4-string player, a 4-94. I played one of the earlier versions of the 55-94 with Bartolini pickups and preamp and I was blown away by how many different sounds I was getting from it's J/MM pickup setup.

I have Bartolini Original Series Deep Tone Quad Coils in my Ristola-6, which I absolutely love the sound of. I don't have parallel/series switching capabilities; I had them wired in series, and I have an Aguilar OBP-3 onboard preamp with an active/passive bypass switch.

Hi Arthur, they are Haussel bassbars specially made for Adamovic. I really think these are the best pick-ups I have tried in my life. Very transparent, articulate, clean, but preserves the warmth and the body. Even if I go to a very deep tone, subdued it still remain clear. My bass comes with the Glock 3 band pre-amp that can be bypassed by pulling the volume knob. And the passive tone of the bass is killer.

PRS #11 isn't too shabby either - it has 18 different very usable and distinct sounds, but it doesn't leave the home studio anymore, so the use is restricted.

I was gone from TB for a couple of years and it passed me by! Just started checking in again last month...

You keep saying "we" in the build thread, did you do the wood work? or we you working with a luthier?

It really is beautiful! It makes me want a violin bass all over again....

Hey Carlos....

I did all the design work and supervised the build, but no - I didn't actually build it. I am enrolled in a woodworking class now though, as a Christmas present from my wife - and I just finished four prototype bodies of my own design. No reveal yet, I have to see how they turn out! I use a luthier in L.A. named Keith Horne - he has his own guitar company called "Marvin Guitars" but also works for EchoPark and GuitarViol.

Keith is finishing up a Fender Performer (Transformer as I call it) next week for me and I have twin Hollow Body Fenders coming - a P and a J. The J is finished and ready for assembly while the P is still at the EchoPark paint shop getting some touch up work. These TB threads come with a warning, because they are VERY long and tedious - but at least there are a lot of photos. Those threads are here if you are interested:
