SWR 18 NOT WORKING, IS IT BLOWN?

OK i have a SWR 18 that i got a few years ago. A while ago it just stoped working i was not playing on it when it happened so i dont think its a power from amp problem i also was only playing a small gk threw it so i doupt it could blow it. The speaker it self is not stiff, I can push on it and it goes in with ease. I was told to hook a 9v battery and look for speaker movment but i got nothing. It does nothing at all. I bypassed the cabnet and pluged it into my house sterio just to see if i could get some sound from raw speaker but i get no sound at all. Any ideas would be great.

if you get nothing coming from the speaker through your stereo, means you
A) hooked it up wrong/ used wrong ports
B) speaker is busted.

If nothing comes out when you touch the positive/negative part of the battery to the cable, means your amp is no good OR the speaker is no good.

When did you get it? If you got it after 05' its most likely still under warranty unless you've done something to void that warranty. Fender is good with warranty. I got a chopped up WorkingPro 10. ( speaker was not attached, neither was the original box it was in) And they still accepted it. Turns out a power transformer was gone so they had to replace that. Should be done soon.

im pretty sure i hooked it up right + to + and -TO - hehe. My new amp is mesa and is fine it has to be the speaker and it does nothing. Its like 8 years old so that is out of question:( i just want to know if people think it can be fixed its not easy for me to bring to the only store around here so need to know if its worth it.

Ahh i just re-read this. Yeah it probably is the speaker. Hmm just to rule the amp out do you think you can attach another speaker to the SWR?

Still send 'em an email they will help you out one way or another.

If you did the battery test and it didn't move, it's blown, period. You need to either re-cone or replace it. That's provided you tested it at the terminals on the speaker. Bad solder or loose wire on the input jack is your only other possibility. If you can operate a screwdriver, you can check that yourself.

i thought if it was blown it would feel dif when pushed in. and it was never played hard so that would be odd.

It won't necessarily feel different. Open the cabinet and look at the speaker itself and check the wires from the speaker to the input jack. If they look OK, get a multimeter and check the resistance across the speaker terminals. If it's blown, then you'll see a very high or infinite resistance, but also check the flexible wires inside the basket that go from the terminals into the guts of the speaker. If one of those has come loose, sometimes they can be reattached.
