SWR Face plates..HELP!!

Well, I bought an SWR Bass 750 off a fellow TBer that has some cosmetic issues that led me to get a great deal on it.

The cosmetic issues are as follows, he bought it off a kid who scratched up the face plate in an attempt to make it look "Vintage." It actually looks hideous, ha ha. I bought it for the sound, power, versatility. I also wouldn't mind it looking nice.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Not the greatest picture to see the true extent of the damage.

You could try to find a broken one on eBay at some point and change out the faceplate. Otherwise, maybe some model paint and stencils? Aren't those face plates powdercoated? Hard to refinish it perfectly.

The design is pretty simple, I would just get some enamel the same color (flat black?) and a very fine brush and fill in the cracks. THEN if you really don't like it you could re-do the whole thing. But remember one of these day you will want to sell/trade it and the more original it looks the better your return...

Copy and paste the link to this craigslist add. This guy did an SWR head with a kevlar front and hand painted graphics. Looks pretty good. He also has his email and website info listed. Thought this may help. Nice score on the 750!

 Oh no! Amp 'relic-ing'!

How about gun bluing?

Maybe these TB'ers know something about this process: Gun Club!

The guy you bought it from was an idiot. Have you tried getn up with Fender to see what a new face plate would run you? I'm not sure what the differences are between that model and the current production.

Contacted Fender, no can do on the new face plate. They said it was before their time and they couldn't help.

I am sure they won't send me a 750x faceplate for obvious reasons.
