SWR Fan Club II

Speaking of Eden, just yesterday I received a used WT-300. I used to run two of them at the same time; one going into an 8x8 & one into a 2x12 so I could EQ each cab separately (courtesy of Evan Sheeley & Chad Beeler at Bass Northwest in Seattle around 1997 or so). It's the only amp I ever got compliments from soundmen asking "What kind of bass amp is that? It's the best sounding amp I've ever heard" at all type of different venues. I started with SWR, moved to Ampeg then found my sound with the Eden WT-300's. The sound I got yesterday out of it was the same sound I remember :)
It's so individual right? I have always wanted to like Eden. I've owned 2. Just something about the low end that doesn't sit right with me. It sounds kind of flat not round. I don't know. I know this is all subjective. Glad you found the sound in your head.

Remember these old Yamaha boxes, turns out it makes a simple but killer pre. It helps to have a cool amp that accepts line or instrument levels though.

I had an NE1 for a while. I liked it but apparently not enough to keep it. I do have a Yamaha PB1 preamp now though that is amazing. Highly recommend that. Use it for practicing (headphone out) and recording.

After decades of searching, I finally scored a first generation Goliath with the original stamped frame drivers. Anyone have a SWR Goliath badge that they would be interested in selling? Alternatively, does anyone here know where I could have a replica produced?

Make a badge with your initials instead of SWR's initials. These people get enough free advertising!

That's a great amp by the way.

Well. The company, along with its founder, are long gone so I don't think they're looking for advertising.
Yes of course that's true. But just as a general sentiment, I don't think there's anything wrong with personalizing your gear, and for some of these companies- not SWR particularly- they are big enough and get enough advertising without our help, especially after splashing for their expensive gear.
Just an angle. And it's fun to make it your own in that way.

Hello fellow SWR fans! Long time talkbass follower, first time poster. I have a Goliath II that I use at rehearsal, a Goliath III that I have gigged with since I bought it new around 2000. I also have a (rare?) 4ohm Goliath III with a blown and re-glued driver . I powered them with a (1998ish) SWR Bass 350 head for 20 years, until it started becoming unreliable, and replaced that head with a Genzler Magellan 800 head, which sounds awesome though the Goliaths. I play rock n roll, and turn the tweeter down to about 9 o'clock.
I am over 60 now, and would like a lightweight cabinet. But I love the sound and punch that I get from my Goliath III. And I'm picky. Can anyone that uses a Goliath recommend a lightweight 4x10 alternative? Thanks!

Good info agedhorse. I haven't seen any Golights lately. I would have never expected a Bassman to resemble anything like a Goliath
Iirc, they were developed at the same time.
