Again, I want to clarify... This is NOT an owners club. It is open to EVERYONE who is a fan of SWR - Past, Present or Future owners and anyone who loves SWR!!!
I wanted to include everyone. You don't have to own something to have a positive or even a negative opinion on it.

Played a nice open mic which became a jam session with different folks sitting in with different folks. Way cool. Bass rig was a 350X with a newer Triad. Quite nice sounding with the owners J bass. Took me a while to get rid of the honk nasal and Chris Squire string sound, his settings, but it just did the trick.

The Master on the 350 was up to 3:00 and it sounded like it wasn't working hard.

So I'm looking for a new 4x10 (or 6x10 possibly) and came across a used Goliath III 4x10 at a GC nearby. $300. Seemed "well used", but sounded pretty good when I played a bunch of different basses and 2-3 different amps through it. I don't know the year.

It seems like a good deal, no? Talk me into (or out of) buying it! Anything I should pay close attention to if I go back up to try it again?

I've always been a big Eden fan, any thoughts on how it compares to Eden's 4x10's?

My vibe on the Edens v the Goliaths is that there are strong similarities between them, with the Goliath sitting somewhere between the XLT's more aggressive mid range and the XST's softer more polite (but hifi and deep) voice. All three cabs are capable of a lot of different tones; you're not stuck with a hifi sound or stuck with a rock sound but can get what you want. It sounds to me like the Goliath III you've seen is fair deal.

Hi, I as well am a swr owner I currently have a modified 4 ohm swr son of Bertha, a 4 ohm swr Goliath III I use these cabs in stereo mode with my pre-fender swr sm 900, you would'nt believe the sound man! The son of Bertha cab gives me all the midrange I need while the 4 ohm Goliath III give me all the deep bass I could ever want. IMHO the best combination ever! SWR Rules Baby! Oh by the way I also own a pre-fender swr henry 8X8 which is another awesome cab. Please include me in the swr club

I wanted to remind everyone that I do have several SWR Schematics. Since I have owned a few of them, I have kept the schematics and will share. Please e-mail me.
I am looking for a schematic myself - SWR SS-180..
If anyone has this please let me know. SWR does not have any records or schematics prior to 1992 and this amp dates to 1986.

Though my med to large gig rigs are now different, I am still rocking a BBII owned since new, now with LDS long throw 8"s. Recap and it's amazing. Also for the tiny gigs an LA-8 with a Celestion from my BBII. Yes fans, when I installed the LDSs they both weren't blown. So in the LA-8 it went. OMG you can crank it all the way and it deals. The air coming out of the other input jacks causes tornados.

Where did you find the LDS 8s? I have read about them but never seen them for sale anywhere. I have a BBII I got new in 1997 and it has always been fantastic. I put in Eminence Alpha 8s in place of the Celestions for a change last year. Sounds warmer, fuller and still has the great character of a BBII. The Alpha's are only 125W but go down to 58Hz where the Bata's (250W) only hit 78Hz. Adding a SWR Monitor 12 completes the package for larger venues.
