SWR Super Redhead-- Now what?

The Super will do 2 ohms; the triad is a nice enough cab.

Ditto. The RedHead will operate safely at 2ohms, and I have been doing so for some time now. I'm using a 4ohm Epifani 115 ext cab. Sounds great, and the Epifani cab is 1/4 the weight of the RedHead combo.

I have an SWR Super Redhead. It works great in most venues I play. If I do need an extension cabinet, I have a Goliath 3 4 ohm. The amp has never had any issues and functions well at 2 ohms. So, my suggestion would be the the Golliath 410 cab.

I have a pre-Fender Redhead, and I would recommend the 2X10 combo also. Nice and punchy, but will still give you all the lows you need.I play a Benavente SCD5 through mine, and it handles the B just fine.

Would a used SWR Triad for $350 be worth looking at? or hold the line for a SWR Goliath jr deal?

The Super Redhead will run at 2ohms so the Triad would work. I've been told that running it at 4ohms is more stable though. I traded mine used (thanks Rich) and it came with 16ohm speakers (Eminence Delta 10B's) in it. So, alone it ran at 8ohms instead of 4. Rich used to run it with an extension cab (Avatar 1x12...said it rocked!). In theory, running it this way with an ext. cab would keep it stable at 4ohms instead of 2. Running it this way without the ext. cab., which I do, only supplies the speakers with 1/2 the power (175watts). To my ears running it this way didn't sound optimal or in other words not enough power for 2 speakers rated at 350w ea. So, last week I bought the 8ohm version of the Eminence speakers (10A's) and boy did it come to life!!! I think if I ever wanted to run an ext. cab I'd put the 16ohm speakers back in and run it at 4. I've heard more people than not say it's too hot running it at 2ohms, although I can't say I wouldn't try. I'd love to run a 4ohm 2x10 with it just to see. Some say it pairs great! So, I hope this helps you understand your new cab better. I love mine and don't think I'll ever let it go.

Get an 8 ohm SWR Golight 4x10 and bee done with it.

I own the Golight 4x10, Golight 2x10, and Golight 1x15 and they all rock. They sound just like their brethren but are soooo much easier to lug around.

I have paired my pre-Fender Super Redhead with an 8 ohm Son of Bertha with success. It handles my Fiver down to the B and sounds great.

Hey WV-- curious,.. what is your #1 all-time fave amp?

The SWR Baby Blue and Baby Blue II. Between the preamp and the speaker configuration, this amp has unsurpassed tone. Sadly, it is a very small amp and not suitable for many gigging situations.

Of course, what do I know? I've been thoroughly impressed by a HA3500 and a couple aluminum-coned 410s in a band situation...and surprisingly underwhelmed by a Mesa 400+, which I fully expected to love.

To be fair, there are many, many amps -even whole brands- that I've never seen or heard.
