hey hey tb

Possibly going to trade my swr workingmans tower 810 for an swr triad 115,110. How do these two stack up? I really need to get rid of the 810 due its size. I use a genz benz gbe 750. Will the triad have enough push at 400 watts? or will I be simply wasting the power of my amplifier? I read the reviews on te triad and I like the idea of its range compared to the tower. I think I just need some opinions!!

cheers
wes

Hold out.

The triad sounds great, but they really tend to only be able to handle 250 watts (not 400) and aren't all that loud in a band context. They tend to handle less watts than advertised as the fifteen is only good for 250 watts, and ALL of the lows are being sent to it. I can't tell you how many triads I've seen with popped fifteens. Great sounding cab - but not the most robust or loudest.

Portable? triad? In the sense that a wheel barrow full of bricks is portable I guess :) Weight is like 90lbs and the size of a 4x10.

I'd steer clear of any of the above. Go check out some of the new GK neo stuff maybe, and the SWR Go-Light stuff.

I couldn't agree more. I wanted something smaller but could handle a decent amout of power so I bought a Basson 210. It sounds great but is the size of a 410 and weighs 110lbs. Too much work to move up and down a few flights of stairs and into the back seat of my 2 door Civic. Look at something lighter. I've been eyeballing the GK neo stuff myself as a replacement.

Haha - In my studio I have my "permanent" SWR Goliath 610. It is 100lbs and pretty much stays put.

On the other hand, I have sold both my (although I LOVED the tone so much) SWR 810 tower, Henry 8th, and my SWR Triad.

I will never sell my GK Neo 212. It is the only cab I've always kept. I hope to get a Neo 410 someday.

By the way, GK is the only non-neo sounding neo cab. They actually sound like ferrite magnets.
