SWR

I agree with the previous post. SWR made the most innovative bass equipment since Ampeg!! Fender seems to water down everything they absorb. I guess if you can't compete with a company, the best solution is to use your deep pockets and buy them out and phase them out to eliminate the competition. I know my SM1500 is post Fender, but it is still an incredible amp. As far as your question with what comes close.... I would play in the garden of Eden my friend.
 
I haven't heard swr is going out for sure but it is a fact that fender is in the red big time. I'm honestly not that suprised. Many of their instruments have been cloned and made better by competitors. I have had one swr head for like a decade and if anything the only reason to replace it would be weight. Not to mention the used market is a buyers market right now NOT a sellers market. So people aren't selling their gear as much to buy the newest badest gizmo to come along because they go to sell their gear and find they'd rather keep it then sell it for nothing

I may not have my facts right (who really knows with these things, anyways) but I believe SWR was was practically begging to be bought out by Fender.
