SX basses modability

Ok so I have heard that the SX P basses are clones of the Fender's. How close to perfect are they? Can you inner change the pick guard? Do the holes line up?

I got a tort guard to go on my SX P, and it didnt match up too well. It fit, but it left a bit of the control cavity open, and most of the screw holes didn't line up at all, so I had to drill new ones. Aside from that, I think Fender necks will fit pretty dang closely, I hear it's not quite an exact fit though.

Pickguard will need some trimming to fit the chunkier neck heel, most likely, and the holes won't line up. But plenty have done PG swaps with no major issues.

It takes a little work, mine I had to adjust the neck pocket, pickup hole, new screwholes and there was one less hole on the Fender guard.

Replacement pickguards are sometimes available directly from Rondo, but it depends on availability. I swapped the white guard for a black one on my SX P for a very reasonable price.

+1. I did the same thing with my fretless P-bass. I just contacted Kurt at Rondo.

I would just send a traced outline with screw hole marks to WDmusic or any company that makes custom guards.

Ive thought about doing that to put a tort guard on my SX 57 P, but decided itd rather save some money and get a 15 pg from GFS and just drill some holes

Any more info on the necks? I was thinking of getting an SX fretted neck to put on a MIM bass...anyone tried this?
