I don't have one, as I'm sort of a vintage/high end bass snob. But I know SX has a loyal following here. As a matter of fact, it was one of the SX loonies, er, I mean, fans that suggested I start a complete individual thread for this, so I am.

I know a lot of people swear by their SX's and the FrankenSXs. But I have yet to see anyone admit they have a Pirate bass and show it.

So, come on you SX guys, show us your Pirate bass or FrankenPirate bass!

I'm tempted to buy one within the next week, and I too, am curious as what people say about this little bass. My plan was to mod it cosmetically from the headstock and just use it as a "dive bar bass" or something I'd take to the beach (har har har). There was another forum that had a vague review. I believe it was a music instructor purchase for his son. Anyway, going to lurk here for a while and see if we get any input.

Oh yeah, and kurt seems to be out of selection for bass cases lol.

I have one. Bought last Spring. I think it's a great bass, honestly.. Much hotter pickups than any of my other basses, very agressive and the neck is rediculously thin and cmfortable. Sure, the binding is a little overboard, but othr than that, it's awesome, IMO.

I was literally one click away from buying one once before. Right before I hit the complete buy button, I thought to myself "I should see if anyone has pictures of the bass", so I did.

I found a picture of one here on talkbass, and I'm sad to say that the bass has like........red finish in the grain of the nice black ash. It makes the bass a lot more toy like.

Yep, I figured no one would post one. The SX guys rave about them but I think we found the one that no SX fan will admit to. And of course, its probably the only one I would buy and mod.

+1 and too funny (but true.)

I see that there are two who posted that they own them but didn't post pics.

I have to admit though, as much as it seems weird, the "American" version with the red binding and red pickups looks a heck of a lot better then the pics of the ones on the Spanish SX websites. The all black except for the head stock and pirate X on the fret board actually looks like crap IMHO.
