SX Replacement Necks

I have a fretless SX that I would like to convert to fretted. The fretless neck actually plays well, I just don't use it much.

Has anyone purchased a replacent neck from Rondo? How does it compare?

Am I better off dishing out more $ on a different replacement neck?

Rondo's replacement necks are the same ones that are on the SX basses. So I don't see any problem with buying one to use on an SX.

Yup. Swap in my Reverend pups, a little relic-ing and got me hot little bass for practicing all those set ups and mods I'd like to learn how to do.

FWIW, the SX block necks are finished, where the standard P bass replacement necks are not and will require some finishing (sanding sealer and that kind of stuff) going on info from past reports of people who have bought them.

I see a lefty geddy neck in my future if my ebay auctions do well...

also, the new blocked replacements are actually fender spec'd at 2.5" at heel and 1.5" at the nut, whereas the necks on the actual SX basses are about 1/16" wider all around. So the bound replacement necks will be a little loose fitting on an actual SX body.
OTOH, I just received a Fender P/J body for my SX bound&blocked replacement neck and the fit is great!

I did not find this to be the case with mine. My block neck and the stock neck off of my SX jazz are identical in width at the nut and the heel.

On Rondo's site, the 4-string replacements are listed as bing 1.5" at the nut and 2.5" at the heel, while all of the SX's J's i've owned and come into contact with have necks with the specs listed on Rondo's site, but the neck i got when i ordered the new blocked replacement neck is Fender spec'd at 1.5" and 2.5" respectively and feels great whereas the neck on my old SJB-75C almost felt like it had a Pbass "baseball bat" neck. A very "chunky" feeling neck.
I'd definitely be interested in hearing how much variance there is in these replacement necks since I was going to order another one to set aside for a future project and want to make sure they didn't run out of the replacements at some point and started substituting spare SJB-75C necks instead.

Just measured both necks (Stock SX Jazz bass neck w/maple board and replacement block neck for those keeping score)

Both necks measure 1.5" at the nut and 2.5" at the heel.

I need to find something to do with this extra neck...

I bought a Team / SX fretless neck and it's terrible. Not even worth the paltry $40 it cost. I need to replace it with a Mighty-Mite or something else competent.

I wish they'd sell replacement pickguards as well.

I found the black block inlay neck to be of better quality than the original neck on the bass.

Others have posted that they do sell replacement pickguards. Send them an email to find out what's available and how to get them. Kurt's sending me a black one as compensation for messing up my recent order.
