T BIRD OWNERS! advice on nut width on epi thunderbirds.

ok, so i was planning on buying myself a t-bird yesterday. that was before i noticed something that made me puzzled on the epiphone site.

the Epiphone regular Thunderbird IV nut width is listed as 1.73"
the Epiphone Goth Thunderbird IV nut width is listed as 1.5"
the Epiphone Nikki Sixx blackbird nut width is listed as 1.5"
the Epiphone T-Bird Pro (4-string) nut width is listed as 1.5"

one of the reasons i was buying a thunderbird was the nut width, because it was very similiar to my fender jazz bass. i also have a p-bass, and i dont like the width at the nut on that, which is about 1.75," very close to hat the reg. t-bird is listed at. (which is what i DONT like)

how come the regular t-bird is listed as 1.73"? i havent ever had the chance to personally compare them.

does anyone have any insight on what the problem could be? ive played the reg and goth and blackbird models in the past and i didnt really notice a difference, but i might strapped behind one at a hour long gig. is the measurement perhaps just a typo?

anyway, any you guys can share is much appreciated.

Haha. I measured mine and unless the Google cm to inches conversion is wrong it is about 1.6"

That was puzzling me before....why would all the models have the same nut width except the standard model?

But , then I realized, I use a P-bass. The nut width of a T-Bird means nothing to me.

Also, the Gibson models have 1.5, so if anything, the Epi standard should be the one with 1.5, not the one without it....at least in my opinion.

you know, that could be the reason. i think the most recent models have a bit different specs.

mine is a 2007? and the neck is very thick,P-bass like which is what i voted.i think it is 1.73.but idk why they are saying the goth isn't..the neck on the goth i played was no different from my own bird

P Bass standard is 1 5/8"

Only the 57 reissue (MIA) and 50s Classic (MIM) are 1.75 (1 3/4")

Reviving a dead thread I know, but I can absolutely confirm that the Epiphone Goth T-bird necks (At least 2007 Korean models) are like a P-bass. Measured one with digital calipers, and the nut was 42.75mm/1.68". That is within factory tolerance of 44mm/1.73". Hilariously, if you want a Fenderbird, a Korean Epi seems like a good choice.
