Sorry guys - this seemed like the most relevant place to post this (especially after reading the stickies).

I have read several posts in the tablature section with members who say the have come across a "tab archive" on this site somewhere. After an hour of searching, I have yet to find it. If anyone would be so kind as to tell where to find this archive (without too much ridicule) I will be forever grateful. Thanks!

I would prefer sheet music, but finding sheet music for Bass is harder to find than complete, printable tabs.

Most of these links are DEAD. The only site's I have found useful tabs are Big Bass Tabs and Songster. I am on the 2 week trial so I can print, unfortunately a lot of the tabs are adapted to a 4 string bass when the songs are written and played on a 5 string bass. Big Bass Tabs has plenty of 5 string tabs, but I haven't seen a good printable version of a tab yet.

Jellynote looked promising, then I realized most of their stuff is just flat out wrong or not a bass line... Why advertise it as a bass tab when it is the Guitar tab or someone wrote the bassline in treble clef

I am too interested much like @Armsdealer and when playing guitar my teacher and I usually use musicnotes.com for they are really accurate and very affordable. I don't mind if it's free or at a cost as long as the cost is within reason.

Yet, musicnotes is very limited on bass and I am focusing on 4 string BTW. So any updated sites would be appreciated since this thread dates back to 2002 and a lot has changed since then especially when it comes to websites.

Well, perhaps he's looking for some useful tab sites. In my experience this isn't one of them.

That was posted back in 2002 and that was 14 years ago. Lets be honest, much as changed since then especially the internet. I would go to UG but their results are very inconsistent. Music Notes is a superb site but not much in content when it comes to bass's. So I am sure there is something better than UG and similar or as good as Music Notes but for bass.

Doesn't hurt to ask and since this is a sticky, wha'ts the harm?

oops, didn't check the date. My bad. Yes, in 2002, there barely was an internet.

I wouldn't say it was barely, but before Y2K people were just getting into Broadband (from dial-up), and this was before people learned the usefulness of Linksys routers. Hell WIFI wasn't a thing quite yet. Then after that things started to happen.

Just a different world/time then. Imagine where we will be 14 years from today? Your music sheets will be in holograms floating in mid air as you play the bass.

Compared to now, I would say barely is a valid description. I was on dial up until 2000 when cable access became available.

I use my iPad for chords and lyrics.

I use the Onsong app, that use files in .txt format (Words can be used, too).

I have started a group on Facebook where people can share and get files for that purpose, so if you are interested in sharing your files, or getting them, feel free to join.



There are around 1000 songs with chords and lyrics at the moment.
