Takamine eg512c or Ibanez aeb10e ???

Hi there folks!

I´d like to buy an accoustic bass and i´ve seen this two (second hand) for 250 euros / 325 USD, although i´ll try my luck to see if i can get it a bit cheaper depending on the state of the bass.

It seems to be an easy option, and should go for the Takamine, but... do you think I should give the Ibanez a chance?

Thanks for your time!

I have the Ibanez. The only beef I have with it is that it is very large and awkward front to back so it is hard to get your arm around it and into a comfortable playing position..at least sitting down. Standing there are no issues. You will have to adjust your playng style no matter which you choose, but what ever has the smaller body is the one I would pick, IMHO, especially if they are priced the same. I haven't played a Tak AEB.

I've owned an EG512 for over 6 years. Gigged it for the first two, then it became the "camping, backyard bass". It's been knocked to the ground a number of times, and despite a crack in the heel joint, still plays. Does pretty well around a quiet campfire with its high action. That;s a good price if it's in nice shape; and I imagine the HSC is worth half of the asking price.

I differ a bit from Pauler, I've never played my ABG standing up, and have found it very comfortable to play sitting. I have an armless folding camp chair that works great, although a little on the small side.
