TalkBass App To Be REMOVED/DELETED [security concerns]

The secondary market sites like Reverb who do still have a mobile app are going to love this. I predict tumbleweeds on TB until a new mobile app becomes available.

I also think it was a good idea to turn off the app even though I like it. In fact, I appreciate it so much that I'm going to buy a supporting membership.
I do have some suggestions for the mobile version:
1. If you can't do infinite scroll, an "all" feature for reading threads is handy. Muffwiggler (the unfortunately named modular synth site) has implemented this.
2. Variable text size would be good--I find it just big enough on my iPad and a bit small on my iphone. Sometimes if I increase the text size, I have to scroll right or left. Access to Safari's reader function would be even better for readability.

No. No need to change passwords. This is a preemptive action only.
Of course in general regular password changes on all sites you visit is a good idea
It's never a bad idea, but there is no evidence of any kind of security breach on TalkBass thus far. This is a preemptive measure only.
Thanks for looking out, but I will definitely miss the app. I will try and subscribe to all posted threads per your idea, but I really, really liked the app's ability to sort those threads for me.

I haven't used the app since the launch of the new website, the website works just fine in my Android web browser, so I saw no need to use the app at all.
You can set your preferences so that on a going forward basis, any thread you create or post in will automatically be added to your watch list. That will not quite get you the same functionality as that aspect of the app because it won't capture threads you've participated in the past, but it will get you close.
If you give it a chance, I think you may find that the mobile browser version ultimately offers a better experience than the app. That was my experience, anyway. After the site upgrade a few months back, I switched from using the app on both my Android phone and iPad. I initially missed the "participated" feature of the app, but all of the other benefits of the mobile browser version of the site outweighed losing that feature for me.
Well since my kids normally have the computer time locked up at the house, I normally use the app. So I'm in the this sucks camp, kind of. You have to do what you have to do and I applaud you for doing the difficult thing. You could have easily chosen to ignore the problem. I am sure that you will find a replacement when a suitable one comes along. I have already removed the mobile app from my phone.
Beyond that I just tried the site thru my Galaxy 3 and it worked well enough. Obviously not as convenient but well enough. If any of you haven't given it a go I do suggest you try it.

One other suggestion while I'm at it: it would be great if the text of thread replies showed up in our email notifications.
Oh well. Maybe when Tapatalk loses enough Users they'll take security more seriously. As much as I liked the Ap and its convenience, it's now deleted.
Safari isn't THAT bad. Certainly not bad enough to keep me away.

Well a BIG THANK YOU is deserved to the mods of TB for doing something. Most forum sites wouldn't give a crap. I never liked Tapatalk and was always weary of what they do with password info and such. Anything on the internet that is stated to be "free" steals your most important thing... Your ID. Think about it, TapaTalk has all your favorite passwords used for the multi forum user. Not safe considering people are lazy with keeping different passwords for every website they use.
The browser works just as well once you get used to it. You can get email notifications if you want.

Is there anyway to put the watched threads and forums button on the bottom of pages as well as the top. If you are going through a bunch of pages it would be easier to hit that at the bottom, than scroll all the way to the top or hit the browsers back button 5 times (which also doesn't clear the thread I was just reading).
If the mobile browser can add the same "participated" function of the app I'll deal with it.
Wow, so many whiners on here. I bet they would whine more if hit with identity theft.
Thank you Paul and crew for looking out for us members. As an avid app user, I will miss it but it is certainly no deal breaker. Decisions like this are difficult but makes me glad to be part of a caring community.

Thanks admins. My day job often puts me in the same situation. I sympathize and support your tough and potentially unpopular (in the short term) decision towards bigger picture benefits.
I tried the the TB app once very briefly. Using mobile browser (Chrome) on my phone and tablet has always been my preference, and I've never had an issue. In part it's for the consistency of interface on my desktop computers and mobiles. I've often wondered what appealed about the app for folks. The upgraded forum software made it better, as the site seemed more aware of mobile access and delivered the layout accordingly.

Hmmm. I wonder if this any anything to do with the lack of advertisements on the app. Perhaps TB wasn't getting it's full funding because of all the mobile app users and the lack of Tapatalk to integrate TB's sponsors... You wouldn't want to post that up as a reason though so pre-emptive security sounds good enough.
I think in retrospect I was probably on the mobile web browser more anyways. App was normally behind by a multitude of minutes in regards to notifications and such. I have no problem with this, in light of all the cyber hacking going on. I own an HTC one. When I have questions or I'm curious about something, talkbass will continue to be my go-to. It's all about the.community for me, not saying that's not the case for anybody else.
