TalkBass Trade Gone Bad

David... I couldnt see ANYTHING because I tried to access it from my mobile and got the message about "this user", BUT if I get on a desktop/laptop I can see his feedback with comments by clicking on "view trading profile". That option does not appear on mobile, but alot of options dont.

Exactly. Now not only is his profile information and trade feedback hidden, the guy isn't even making "public" deals and postings...probably just soliciting other members through PMs or from the Wanted section. Not like that isn't a legit thing to do, but given the context, it looks an awful lot like another means of evading one's reputation following them or being exposed.

If a person was already concerned about being labelled (or believed they were being mislabelled) as dishonest, this doesn't seem to be the right way to correct the situation. IMO, of course.

Huh, true enough. Well, that does alleviate the concerns somewhat then. It is still difficult to search for information and you can't see a posting history, but you do get the snippets of feedback within the selling history.

I guess it is back to buyer beware then. Hey, let's be careful out there.

Resolved? No, nothing has ever been resolved, by the trader or by the site administrators.

This guy was allowed to trade me a damaged bass with absolutely no repercussions to himself.

And this wasn't some kind of his word against mine, or a simple difference of opinion. I think it was pretty clearly proven that this guy caused the damaged to the bass himself and then failed to disclose the damage when he posted it for trade.

Then, when I call him on it he asks the mods to delete his account, deletes the original trade thread (multiple times), posts retaliatory feedback, and then a couple months later, out of the blue, turns up to declare that NOW something was wrong with the bass I traded to him.

I have since posted this bass for sale, with all the damaged clearly disclosed, and I couldn't even get a nibble. Even after dropping the place to $200 less then the typical going rate.

LAG, liar, thief, and for some reason still a member of Talk Bass.

I contacted the admins\mods the when the deal first started to become an issue, then several more times to have the trade thread restored after it was deleted multiple times (3), then I contacted them again to have the retaliatory feedback removed. They have actually been very helpful throughout this deal.

I guess I just a little upset that this guy still has an account.

How much evidence is needed to prove that you've been ripped off by someone? The guy took me for several hundred dollars.
