TapeWound Club~Anyone?

Started with Fender tapewounds years ago, then moved to Carvin/LaBellas for their mwah coefficient on fretless. D'Addario and GHS are okay. I prefer tapes to flats on electrics because of the lower tension and on ABGs because flats sound tubby IMO.

No number; I'm not really a clubable guy. I'm more like Kipling's cat.

I was a Main Transit firefighter for a very long time (Main Transit Fire Department - MTFD) and my firefighter ID# was 24, hence the MTFD24, which has been by screen names and e-mails for over 25 years now. Thanks for the # and I really love tape wounds on all my basses! Got hooked on them with my first set of Roto's. :cool:

Well, I say "Not a Real Bass Player" because it's (ahem) true. I own an ABG that I futz around with, yes, but I don't play with others (& haven't in decades) or in public or on recorded medium. Sorta like the protagonist of Zappa's Joe's Garage, I amuse myself with imaginary bass solos... And as Joe learned, imaginary solos exist only in the imagination of the imaginer. But hey, now I'm "19" again! Uhh - oh...

Currently enjoying a set of D'Addario ETB92. A very good match. Plays like soft butta on a hot July afternoon.
For the Fretless folks.....how do TW's work on the fretless? I usually have Nickel RW's on my Warwick Corvette FL.....

Tape wounds are fantastic on fretless, i have the same bass as you and I've used D'Addario tapes and i am now currently using La Bella whites. Great sound and feel.

I just broke down and ordered a set of the WHITE La Bella Tapes to try. I am about 1/2" in my minds endless Crevices from ordering a MTD Kingston Saratoga. I have not yet owned a Jazz Bass (I have ALWAYS Been a P-Bass guy), but the Saratoga would go Nicely with my Kingston CRB and Artist. I will try out the whites on the Saratoga if I end up ordering it... Anyone wanna twist my arm and help me quit stalling? :woot:
