TapeWound Club~Anyone?

I really like how this Birdsong Skyrider short-scale sets up and sounds with La Bella tapes 760N-M. Really enjoying this set.
Ugh...finally got a set of LaBella 750G-B on a bass, and I guess the demos I watched didn't happen for me, and I can't seem to get them intonated...everything gets WAY too sharp as I move up the neck as soon as I start fretting...which is the real deal breaker...dammit, now I know. I should know about the "if it ain't broke" rule.
Labella White Copper tapewounds seem to work pretty well with my Piezo-only Tune WB-4F.

I’m interested in possibly trying a set of TI Acousticores on it, but I don’t know if they’d be any better sounding, plus i really love the feel of the Labellas.

Isn’t that a function of set up? String height and saddle position?
So your harmonics are good at the proper locations and your height above frets (or fretboard if fretless) is correct and neck has proper curve for you? That is odd as once those are dialed in, regardless of string type, it is simple math of spacing, as I understand. So unless you had really high action, it should not go sharp like that.....Maybe try the other parts of TB that have the real Tech Wizards......I went thru the whole set-up checklist....
I'm still using the same set of these ETB92S Nylons, on the Epi EB-0, since mid November 2019. They still play, and sound great.
Hey Jeff O, Im not a luthier but maybe the angle of the neck at the attaching screws is wrong or needs shims. causing it all to be off.not the truss rod.maybe the action is to high and cant be adjusted right because of that angle where the neck fitts into the body ? just sayin.I use nothing but ETB92S's and never had a problem.Just sayin

I have gone from playing Nickels, to rounds, to flats, to STRICTLY Tapes. I LOVE Tapewound strings. I have played D'Addario and La'Bella Tapes. I love them BOTH on specific basses. Anyone else out there in LOVE with Tapewounds???From Fretted to fretless, country to metal, I have found the sound I dig by going Tapes.... Chime in if you are a Tapewound Fan, too PLEASE!
PS... I searched to see if a Tapewound club already exists. I found nothing....

Love my tapes on my j and p basses and even on my abg. I'm a huge fan! I've not looked in any great detail for tapes for my short scale bass - anyone have a good recommendation for 30" scale tapes?
Sharp? Short! Move your saddles back (i.e. away from the headstock) on the sharp strings. Lower string height can also help with intonation if you're running outside of factory spec (controversial to some but logical to many). Edit: check your nut height too - 0.020" is a good height
