Fun to work with the hand tools , and hand finesse this out of a board.
I neglected to point out that I thinned it down with a hand plane earlier . It's now 43mm (1.6")

I received the Custom Tapped J PU set today! With 3' cloth covered leads. Tom Brantley Rewinds.

I did a DC resistance measurement on the PU’s this morning. I did the same on the P PU I had repaired.
It is perplexing to me, the J neck PU measures (Rx 1 scale) 78 ohms and 188.
The J bridge PU measures 98 ohms and 200.
I don’t know if my very old meter needs a new battery or what.

The P PU that was repaired has similar readings... it works very well in my blondie bass. As expected.

Yes, probably needs new batteries. The pickups work fine.

I don’t know your pickups, but you should be seeing something like 7K.

Thanks, I’ll have to check out the meter. Maybe it’s time for a new one...

Well, Maralee sprained her ankle, so been playing handmaiden .
Here we are, finish will go on tomorrow. Made a nut and control plate out of Walnut.

Drilled wiring channels. Routed control cavity.

The board is big enough. I can likely get 2 more bodies and 2 necks with asundry left overs for lams, fretboards, accent pieces etc. Very tempting to do a full single species , single board bass out of it.

Then if I were you, I'd use the same walnut for the knobs and the the plate for the electronics if applicable. Looking great!
