I know some of you guys have full body tats, but Im wondering what you opinion is. I would like to get a bass clef when I graduate high school, but its hard with no support and the feeling of being unwanted by family.
with some exceptions, it seems like many with full body tattoos are just filling space; a quilt of loosely-associated images. i will not be going down that road.
lots of folks here probably have straight-forward bass clef tattoos, which may work for you. i love bass; it is my outlet, and could not live without it. however, unless you do something with it, something original, or work it into something, i feel like its bland. again, i will not be getting one of those.
By that time we could be saying...."Yes; the koi fish sleeve tattoo was a late 20th century popular culture art form..."
i know a lot of folks have them, but i feel like that anything that ubiquitous is pretty lame. i have never found those to be "cool". each is somewhat unique, but i still get the sense that those people walked into a shop, pointed at something on the wall, and dropped the cash.
...and two more years down the road, I'm pretty sure that shying away from the ink is best for my professional future.
i agree that anything below the wrist or above the neck will show over business attire. if you dont know, hold off. it would be a mistake to close doors on yourself.
as you may have guessed, there are plenty of tattoos i dislike, but i have two myself. the first was very meaningful. it reminds me of the philosophy i believe in but dont always live. it keeps me honest when i stray from the person i should be.
i do all my own artwork, and the first one i toyed with for a year or so. the one pictured below was done in two sections. i knew i wanted it for about six months before i even started working on it. i reworked it so many times, digitized it, and photoshopped it exactly how i wanted it. i designed the upper part after, and got it over a year later. there are so many erasures its crazy.
take your time, and make sure its right, because removal is stupid in my opinion. anyway, heres my right arm, which i have gotten nothing but compliments on (i like it myself[it roughly follows the major arteries{science geek here}]):
i will only get black ink, as im super white, with no chance of tanning, and color does not age well. i have been designing two others for over two years. when they are perfect, and i have the money, i will get them done.
a good artist is important, so is biding your time. sorry for the long post.
