Taylor Swift on SNL

Fair enough.

I only questioned her (or any other celebrity's) qualifications as a role model. I'm not hating on her as a person,...I'm hating on the fact that society has relinquished the responsibility of mentoring our children to television.

I'm done here.

Dude, when we were kids we looked up to jocks and rock stars. This was the 70's. Nothing has changed.

I stand by my statement that her clean cut image, the way she has handled her career, her massive talent in crafting great pop songs, and the way she has handled a very public controversy makes her a great role model in my book. If my 11 year old wants to aspire to be her, I'm all for it. We are in a very media driven age, like it or not.

I know guys in their 40's that live and die by A-Rod, as pathetic as that sounds!

Nobody mentors to my daughter more than her mom and I do. But that doesn't mean she's not going to look to someone "cool" as an external role model.

If your child grows up wanting to be exactly like you, I question the job you're doing as a parent - it is completely natural for children to want to go beyond their parents.

I think that she has some real talent. Does that mean that I like her music? No, but I can recognize talent and I will give props where props is due. As for role models? I think that it unfortunate that most "role models" come right from the board room of media giants. It shouldn't be like that, but it is, so when someone like TS comes along that has integrity -- or so it seems -- and talent, I am glad.

BTW my biggest influence in high school was a teacher and he shaped how I think and because of that he helped shape the person that I am. As for the present my role model is my Father and not because he is my Father.

And this.

I loved her impersonation of Shakira.

And when she was mocking that Kristin Wiig Penelope character, the scared straight convict, the teen with the braces, Kate Gossling, the annoying roommate, heck every character she played was well done even the twilight parody. Like I said in my op one of the better SNL's I have seen in a long time. I want her guitar, does anybody no what kind it is I was trying to read the name but couldnt.
