TB Drummers, I need some tech help

I picked up a complete Tama GranStar kit super cheap. It looks like it spent some time in a garage, the chrome is dirty but not pitted and the paint need a good buffing but it will clean up nice.

I want to fix it up so it looks great and plays well so I can resell it for a good price to fund some new bass gear. From my research (before & after I got it) these kits are still in demand and their used prices reflect it.

The toms need new batters, they are Remo Weather King Pinstripe and the ply's are separating. The reso's are fine.
The kick batter is fine (Aquarian Impact) and looks new but the reso is messed up. It has a home made port that is ugly.

I need some recommendations on some heads that would go well with this kit with out spending to much.

Both Remo and Evans sell packs of heads in standard sizes (one pack is 10,12,14, another is 12,13,16) in both 1 ply and 2 ply heads (1 ply will be cheaper, 2 is more standard, so it may be worth the extra couple of dollars).

Some clear/coated Emperors or G2s are usually a safe bet.

Includes a snare head too.

As far as a bass reso, you'll probably be better off just going to the store and getting the cheapest Black reso head they have (Remo, Evans, Aquarian, Attack...whatever).

get yourself someone experienced to do the tuning, you'll risk ruining the new heads... thats quite a bugger to do, so I'd rather buy a set with newly packaged heads than one with new heads put onto it by someone inexperienced...
Hope you know what I mean, no offense meant there :)

Eh, I dunno about that, heads are pretty durable. You have a better likelihood of snapping bass strings when changing than you do of "ruining" a drum head.

So long as they aren't cranked, they'll be fine, and even then, still won't be too buggered.

And tuning isn't that difficult to do if you have any sense of pitch (which is ironically why most drummers are probably the least equipped to tune properly).
