TB is really boring...

I've noticed that only boring people get bored. Seriously, it sounds like you're looking for something in the wrong area or something. If you look in "Basses [BG]" you're gonna find posts about basses. If you want to talk Technique, Gig Stories, etc. look in these respective areas, otherwise, nobody is holding a gun to your head to navigate to this site.

Let's see...I can:
- Read threads that are pertinent to what I am after
- Read and talk to many famous artists and can get pointers from them
- Learn about new techniques or get help on something I am not comfortable with
- Learn about how to use certain pieces of equipment
- See what is coming out in terms of equipment
- Buy (and if I were a supporting member, sell) used gear
- Have fun and discuss current events in the Off Topic forum

Yeah, this place is REAL boring.:rollno:

There are plenty of negative reviews and comments about most of the basses we see here on TB.

Right. You don't want to offend, but you say that several of our members have no balls. :rolleyes:

Look, if you've been here quite a while, you'll see the same discussions pop up over and over, you'll see tons of "look at my new bass" threads and you'll read both jibberish and well informed opinions. Every Internet forum I've ever seen is similar. Listen to people talk about gear in a music store and it's the same. People are people, whether on the Internet or in person. Maybe you are just tired of people? I think we can all relate to that at times!

I don't agree.

This site has a lot of useful and helpful information.

TB also allows freedom of exchange without censorship unlike other single-sided forums where you have a bunch of one-sided individuals who think one way about things and refuse to acknowledge certain realities that exist with respect to the product they like, much of which is in conflict with their way of thinking.

Have you fully explored all the different forums here on TB?

It doesn't seem like you have.

Very true! But is is just me, or are people getting less polite in general on TB? While I haven't been here long I have read a lot of older posts on subjects that interest me, in those old threads there seemed to be much fewer arguments. Now it seems threads are getting closed all too often and a general "my opinion is better than yours", or even worse "my opinion is right, yours is wrong" feeling.

Of course you dont have to read these though ....(wait a miniute why am I here, as this is one of those threads? :)), which leads me back on topic and to the OP, theres still good info to be found, maybe just expand your interests a little?

Also if you have been on TB for a few years you should know that this is one of those threads that will end badly, as such your making TB as worse place, and IMO more boring....see what you did there? :)

I think maybe somebody needs a hug....are we feeling neglected?

Most interactions on a computer are the same whether it is the internet or, in my case, an engineering program. I teach young engineers under my direction: "Quality in = quality out; garbage in = garbage out."

Nope. His point was that it's all of them. The site is supposed to welcome bass players of all walks, even those you don't like. Ignore what you don't want to read. Whining isn't very "rock".

To the original poster: and? I stopped waiting for this site to cater to what I think it should be a long time ago. Post more of what you think it should have.

Come on, EVERY forum site on just about any subject will have it's share of fifteen-year-olds wanting to ask "favorite color of ____" questions. It's just the way any open forum is... heck any group of people in ANY situation... there will be the knowledgeable, the semi-knowledgeable, and the morons. The bell curve is in play.

A friend of mine said this (which should be engraved on a stone tablet):
"The internet gives the power to publish to those least qualified to posess it."

But, I also have to say that I've seen a few of the most intelligent, thoughtful, knowledgeable individuals posting on THIS forum with excellent advice and information. I've PM'd a couple of these bassists to thank them for sharing their wisdom so entertainingly.

Where else can I get a difinitive answer to this question: "What kind of heads are on the tuner gear screws on an original 1955 Fender Precision, phillips or straight-slot?"

TB is great, a tremendous resource. But it is open to the public, so you gotta sort out the wheat from the chaff.

Eh, the only part I feel like has gone 'down hill' is the recording forum. That used to be the only forum I really contributed to, but then I stopped contributing for a long time and just lurking. I've actually been more inclined to contribute more lately than I ever have, so I feel exactly the opposite.
