I spend a lot of time on TB. I jump in on a discussion once in awhile, but not very much. When I talk to my musician friends and bring up something that I read on TB, I'll get razzed about the time I spend on that forum. They don’t understand. It's a great forum and I find that the people are great and the discussions are informative and/or humorous.
Because of TB, I use or have tried TI flats, Sadowsky Black Label flats, Fender Flats, GHS Pressurewounds, and DR Highbeams.
I’ve converted a Squier Jazz to a PJ, replaced the neck with a USAGC neck, painted the body and matching headstock, made up a headstock decal, and used pearl block stickers on a neck. I also made up a pickguard for this bass. I got all my information from users on this forum.
I've replaced a P pickup with an EMG Geezer Butler P pickup, installed a custom wound split coil jazz pickup with a custom wound vintage P pickup in the PJ, installed two Audere preamps (one in my Geddy and the other in the PJ). I rewired my Jazz for a blend pot but realized that it does change the sound of the bass as told by a fellow TBer, so I installed the Audere. Great pickups and preamp BTW.
I kept my Geddy Lee Jazz (I almost sold it because it wasn't a "real" Jazz bass). It plays great and sounds awesome. There is a lot of love for these bass guitars on this forum.
I added a Barbershop OD, MXR M87 compressor, Zoom MS 60B, and more importantly, I learned how to properly use these pedals.
And that's just the gear. I've learned countless things on playing, theory, practicing and band management.
I always have a good laugh in the "Post a funnier picture than the one above - Parallel Universe Edition" thread.
The few times that I posted a question, I got excellent replies.
Yes, this is a great forum. I renewed my membership last week.
