TBers online vs in person

Curious if anyone here has met in person? I know a local bassist and didnt know he was on here until he mentioned a band he used to be in. An aha moment happened, I know this guy! I know we're spread across the country (and globe). Anybody see anybody else play live? You can leave names out to protect the innocent and guilty. If this thread belongs somewhere else, someone feel free to relocate it.

I've met well over a hundred TB members in person over the years, which is pretty easy to do if you attend GTGs and the NAMM show. I've seen at least five play locally with their bandsand a few more at open mics, rotated with two of those through at least two bands, and so on.

I've met a few for in-person gear sales… and know a local guy who's on here occasionally

I don't remember their names/usernames but I have met a few for local deals. Most were quick interactions. All seemed like great guys.

I've met two fellow TB'er's in person, was great to talk with them, both were very cool.

I've "met" several others in zoom calls and all are very cool too. Not the same but after many hours of weekly chats during shutdown you get a pretty good feel for what they're like.

I met up with a TB dude to buy a piece of gear. Strangely, he didn't seem to be floored by the opportunity to meet me in person.

Each TalkBass member online can be a platonic ideal, but in person they sweat, you know, and maybe have bad breath, etc, and you lose a lot.

I've met several bass players , and It's very likely that some of them would be on talk bass. However , I don't think I've ever mentioned that I'm on TB, and they haven't either.

Met one this year who bought a bass from me I had in the classifieds here. He lived about an hour away and we met about half way. Super cool dude!

I haven't met any TBers. I've talked to fellow bass players and have asked them if they're on TB, but they're not.

the glarry club actually had a group/zoom meeting once (organized by our brother, @Jawamac) and it was a blast to be able to just talk, and of course, to see each other at the same time! we need to do that again!

i know one other TB member who i see regularly, but we've known each other outside of TB. i don't know if i've come across other members or not: usually, if i remember to ask, most are unaware of the forum.

I have hosted the annual European TB Tuna and Noodle Casserole all-you-can-eat extravaganza these past years, does that count?

I have met 5 or 6 TB members in person through bass sales & trades. Based on those meetings, TB members are the nicest/coolest people on the planet.
