I just bought a used tc electronic BH550. A great little amp. Pairs very nicely with a Fender Rumble 115 V3 cab with plenty of power to spare.
I've been looking for a footswitch for it. The TC-Helicon Switch-3 is ridiculously expensive considering that a Digitech FS3X footswitch is almost an exact replacement (ignoring the different size and captions) for about half the price.
But going over the schematics, it's basically buttons 2 (toneprint on/off) and 3 (toneprint select) which short jack sleeve to tip and ring, respectively, and button 1 (mute) which shorts both tip and ring to sleeve through two diodes (so that pressing buttons 2 or 3 doesn't short both buttons).
My question is: Does pressing buttons 2 and 3 mute the amp correctly, or is it unreliable because the amp responds too quickly and will function as button 2, 3, 2 then 3 or 3 then 2, and it really needs the instantaneous electronic shorting?
I'm asking because I want to cheap out completely and buy the most basic 2-button footswitch that I can find for a quarter or fifth of the price and press both buttons if I need to mute the amp.
