I'll have to go back and check then to see how I applied them. If they were wrong then that would explain what I heard.

TC Electronic RH450 discussion - Tweaking the Preamp

No sweat. I've been curious about those Ehrlunds for a while, but not the sort of thing I can try out in my part of the world. What did you do with your signal at the board, and what's in the rest of the chain?
Your bass' pre, and/or your cabinet?

I use passive jazz basses (Lakland specifically), though I currently have Audere pre's in them, but they're always run flat. Not sure what you know about Audere, but flat is trully flat.
But, as Tom pointed out, I was following the mislabeled settings, so it's no wonder what I heard was all wrong. I'm very used to using my basses through quality systems using in-ear monitoring both live and in a studio, so I know what flat sounds like. When I tried those settings it sounded like poo to me. I just need to revisit and see what they bring.

That explains everything. Following the diagrams as they're meant to be labelled gets pretty close, I think -- my upright is quite big in the low mids, as is my BFM cabinet, so having the amp flat does not sound good at all. It's a good place to start from for the purposes of identifying the particularities of the rest of one's rig, though.
For sure? That means cut at 125, boost at 100, boost at 225, big boost at 6400. And you have the bass set to a higher frequency than the low-mid, which is weird.
Without reverse, it's cut at 111, big cut at 800, big cut at 1270, big boost at 6400.
Looking at the curve, neither quite makes sense. We need a big cut at 70 (-12), a boost at 200(-6), a boost at 3200(12) and a big boost at 6400(12). Of course, I don't know what the Q is on any of the bands.
That threw me for a few minutes ... I looked at the pictures and subtitles and thought "that can't be flat, surely". The text of the article tells you what's really in those pictures, as Tom says.
Growler, The Ehrlund is by far the best pickup I have ever had. I am rehearsing with that same group tonight and if we get a few decent Mp3's I will post a couple. The signal chain is simple-Ehrlund to Ehrlund preamp (a must) to the Rh450 straight to the board with no coloration from the preamp. Sounds VERY natural. What pickup do you use?
Gage Soundclip. I'm still working it out, but getting closer -- I was setting the RH450 to flat a la the BGM article and using the Fishman Pro-Plat to EQ (better than bypassing the RH's pre, for some reason), but I've been fiddling around with pickup directly into the RH with good results at home. Most recent gigs have been ampless just with the Fishman into FOH and foldback, though. Still need to cut a good deal of the low-mid to get rid of the boom, but that's what EQ is for, right?
I have had really good luck inserting my Radial Bassbone into the signal chain. It has a VERY nice eq that seems to match up with the DB quite well. The Ehrlund is not as dark or boomy as the realist or as trebly as the Full Circle, It is pretty dang transparent, a little midrangey if anything. Tonight, at my quartette rehearsal I ran the amp at the flat settings and thought it sounded wonderful. I could barely tell the amp was on, and was mostly getting tone from the bass,with the amp just providing prescence which is about my ideal situation.
I like the look of those Radial pre/DIs, but they're expensive here. How do you find the low input impedance with the Ehrlund? I guess it must work well. I flirted with the idea of getting the PZ-pre, but settled for the Fishman -- for the price, it does a great job.

The tuner displays sharps, so you would tune (BEADG) to A#, D#, G#, C#, F#
The tuner display has tune up and tune down indicators which turn to a circle when in tune. When the mute button is pressed, fine tuning information is displayed.

You'll have to be satisfied with the sharps indicator, because you can only adjust the tuner from 440 to 428Hz. Not enough for a half-step adjustment.
I am starting to get frustrated with my Rh450. I played an outdoors gig last night, and it seemed like I had no balls to my tone. I dialed up the bass on the eq, but the "tube like" breakup of the tone, even with the tubetone turned off, seemed to kill the bass. I also have to dial down the highs to avoid sounding like Geddy Lee (this was a country gig) I only has the master volume at about 10:30 and the gain was NOT clipping. Any suggestions? I really need a cleaner, punchier low end...
It sounds like you are after the tone I like. ballsy and not crisp.
Try taking the bass center frequency back 6-7clicks (125-140hz) and boost its gain. And take the low mid center frequency forward two clicks (500 Hz) and cut its gain a bit.
Works for me as a starting point, depending where I am playing. This is through a P I should add
