TC Electronic RH750 owners?

I'm thinking very seriously about purchasing one of these amps through reviews and videos that I've seen on these. I'm wondering to those that have owned or played this amp what would be the best cab's to use for them. I want portability and lightweight and also want killer tone. Seems like I'm wanting alot lol. What pairs well with these?

I think that because of the semi-parametric eq, you can match to whatever you like, but I'm digging the Schroeder 212PL (38lbs) and I have a Mini12+L (21lbs). Both do well. I spent a while ABing a few heads with the 212PL and a friend's Bergantino CN212 (46lbs). It does great with the RH. Going round and round, I ended up feeling that I could prefer either one at any given moment. The CN212 is more even throughout the frequency range, where, comparing them directly, the HF on the 212PL stands out more.

More on the budget side of things, I had a Carvin 115MBE for a while that really did some work. I changed out the 1/4 for a speakon and used it as a single. It's 30lbs and very compact and using the one gave the impression that 2 of those with an RH750 would make a killer modular setup. It's sealed and tweeterless (so possibly a bit different sound), but it was surprisingly capable.

I don't understand what your talking about? This amp is rated at much more than that. From the videos this thing sounds amazing.

Bass Gear magazine tested the 450 and the 750. Both maxed out at 236W. Look it up for yourself or do a search. For myselff, I don't take kindly to manufacturers who resort to trickery be it Volkswagen or TCE.

I have the RH450 (RH236 ) and the best cabs I've found for mine is the TC RS212's. I've tried it through a few cabs and I feel it only sounds perfect through the RS212. The RS210 even sounds pretty weak in comparison (lots of sizzle and no thunder). Through most non-TCE cabs, it sounds underpowered if you do a direct comparison with an amp that has a "real" 500+ watt rating.

I will say that if the Mesa Subway D-800 (when it comes out, supposed to be this month) sounds as good in person as it does in the demos, my RH will be probably be sitting as a third string backup.

What would be the second?

TC electronic was caught on this 750W and 450W thing. Both are rated 236W and have some improvment in technology that can make them "as loud as avrage 450/750W" TC electronic claimed it was marketgin misunderstanding.

Owners of those amps says that they are indeed louder than 250W D class amps out there, but 236W is still 236W even if more efficent.

Nethertheless being aware of this setback I bought BH800. Like the tone but I would much preffered para -EQ than Tone prints.

I don't really understand all the tone print versus para EQ. All I know is the videos of it sound amazing and it's easily portable and light weight. Torn between this and the new Mesa Subway rigs.

to keep is simple... the power section of the amp ends up acting a lot like a tube amp in it's compression. It does only do about 250 watts RMS, but because of the way the amp compresses the signal, it's overall output ends up being equivalent over time to a higher powered amp. The initial transient will not peak as high as a higher powered amp, but the way it handles the output, it outputs louder and longer than a standard amplifier. It will be louder than any 250 watt RMS amplifier. Possibly you could recreate it with another amp if you had a great compressor in front of it. The TC thing isn't just compression , but from what I've read, that sounds like what it does more or less. I like my RH450. Sounds good through my old 115 black widow cab or my TC RS cabs. Very different sounding speakers, for sure. To me the RH heads have a rounder tubey type sound compared to the BH heads and combos.

They are great amps. Don't get too hung up on the RMS wattage thing. There are very few people that dislike them.. they just tend to be very vocal and want you to know the amps don't put out 450 or 750 watts RMS.. But don't worry about that ...

I'll say this my last rig was a Ampeg 3-pro and Ampeg heritage 4x10. I played some big gigs with this thing and never had it over half way and had no problem being heard. I would go back to a system like that but the size is bigger than I can handle now. I want smaller package with killer tone and power.

Sure there are a few people who don't like them for the tone, features, perceived watts or whatever. But that can be said for every single bass amp ever made. No one size fits all in this amp game.
As for the very vocal few, if you have been around here long enough you will know that the main offenders have had a grudge against tc ever since they hey didn't get their free tc amp during the test pilot era which was 5 or 6 years ago.
The funny thing is these are older guys acting like children and if I remember correctly I even think one of them accused tc of ageism as a possible reason for not being included.

FWIW, I own and love the RH750. Be sure to check out Invalid Link Removed. The same technology/reasoning applies to the RH750.

Now, to the OP question, there are a variety of cabs which work well with the RH750. For a more warm/round or "old school" tone, I like it with a pair of Ampeg SVT-210AVs. For a more modern, full, balanced, tone, I like it with my Bergantino HD212 (CN212 is also great, and the lightweight option). AudioKinesis has a number of awesome, lightweight options, as well.

There are really a lot of great cab pairings to consider.

It's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but I ran mine into a Ampeg 8x10 E. It sounded both: good and loud (enough).
At the very same gig, the bassguy from the other band ran his amp (same) through 2 TC 2x12. Still sounded good and loud (enough), although with different settings.
Why not testrun one with TC's own cabs then?

Read alot about false wattage claims. I have a RH750 with RS210 and it is loud with a great tone, only set at half volume max at gigs, in my opinion better than the Ashdown ABM 500 and ABM 6x10 I had before which the volume was always cranked up to at least three quarters and alot easier to carry around.
