Depends.

THE TC SCF is better sounding and a nicer pedal than the Boss pedals.

That being said, if you need to switch between Chorus and Flanger settings playing live, with out leaning over to flip a switch and tweak knobs, separate pedals for each might be the way to go.

Perfect world where money and board space aren’t an issue, I’d get the TC SCF for chorus duty, and a ADA Flanger for the jet swooshing.

I'm not much of a flanger guy... but I always thought the Boss flanger pedals sounded great, either the old purple one or the brown & gold bass-specific model.

For chorus, the Tech 21 Bass Boost Chorus has been good to me. The extra stuff you can do with the detune knob is a nice bonus.

There are lots of nice chorus pedals out there for bass when it comes to run-of-the-mill, nuts & bolts chorus effects.

That TC unit was for years THE chorus pedal for guys that were willing to look past BOSS (and I'm a huge nut for the original CE-1 or the chorus you could get off of the Roland Space Echos). Can be a pain in that it's AC-powered and you can get either/or when it comes to the effects, but boy they were fine (and to me better than anything that current-day TC sells by a mile).

If you have to have or want to cut flange and chorus in and out separately, well, your choice is made, and those BOSS pedals are very good. In the old days when I wanted chorus, I'd use the BOSS SF-2 flanger at lo-rate and very little depth, and it worked great as a bass chorus.
