Been researching this brand and in particular the RH450 head and 210 cab. Anyone have any experience with TC? I've pretty much decided on it unless I hear gory things about it. I used to run 2 810 Peavey cabs and a 700 watt Firebass head but now am downsizing. Let me hear the good, the bad and the ugly on these guys!

I opted for the RH750 - not because of the extra power, but because of the TweeterTone.

VERY happy. High quality gear, loaded with useful features, sounds great, amazing DI, light weight. I went for the mixed 210/212 stack, and it is perfect for me.

If you're used to two 810 cabs one single 210 probably won't cut it though. It is a very good 210 IMO, but there's only so much any 210 can deliver.

Well, my needs are different now than when I had that massive rig. And truth be told, I dont want to have to own a truck in addition to my car just to have something to carry it in! LOL

Tell me about this TweeterTone. My highs are very important to me and this sounds like something I might like.

And thank you for answering back! It's much nicer to use this forum to communicate with fellow bass players rather than just as an online encyclopedia.....;)

The TweeterTone allows you to open up the top end. The RH450 is more attenuated up top, as is the RH750 when the TweeterTone is set in the neutral (noon) position. I like a bit of high end sizzle to my tone, the TT brings that to the table in a different (and much better way IMO) than just cranking the treble. VERY cool feature.

Combined with all the good stuff from the RH450, built in tuner, presets, great DI etc. the RH750 is quite amazing IMO.

RS210 and a RH450 or RH750 is quite a managable rig. While not the lightest cab on the market, it is still small and light, and sounds very good to my ear. And it fits in any car, no truck needed. :)

Today I have been forced into buying a new amp, I have a gig tonight and I was having a little play when my GKMB210 went wrong, the passive input packed up, it works but very badly, hardly any output, only in bursts, the active input is fine but I dont want to risk that going down halfway through the gig .
Anyway, I have been gassing after a TC Electronics rig for a while so took the plunge, dealers have been offering the BH500 head with a free BC cabinet, I got the head with two 2x12cabs for £664 .

I have been having a play and like it so far, much more tonal range than the GKMB210 and some nice features like the 3 preset memory, tube tone, spectracomp, tweetertone, two preset contours and built in tuner .
It does not have anywhere near the boominess of the GK and the cabs are lined and braced nicely !
It looks the business too, its about the same footprint as the GK but about 6" taller .
Will post my thoughts after tonights gig . :D

I'm a big fan of the RH450! Love everything about it! I have reverted to using sealed cabs, however, and need more power to drive 'em. So, I'm selling the 450 to buy the 750.

I have a couple of TL cabinets that get more than loud enough with the 450. So don't underestimate it's power. With my TL 606"D" (2x15) I've no trouble keeping up with my guitarist's two 100 watt 4x12 half stacks.

All the built-in features have been written about ad nauseum, so I won't repeat them. The multi band compressor, tube tone and power management are outstanding, and seldom seen (to my knowledge) in other amps! Combined, they give a tube-like "feel" that is unmatched, even by some of my favorite vintage tube amps!! And at most volume settings - from quiet to screaming. I think you'll enjoy either amp immensely!!!

As promised, my after gig thoughts :D

I was very impressed with the BH500 and two 2x12 cabs, the gig was in a fairly small pub but there was a great crowd there which made the gig very enjoyable :hyper:
The amp has a preset feature where 3 preset tones can be stored, all you do is dial in a tone and press the particular button for a few seconds until the LEDs light up and thats it, as easy as setting a car radio, I set mine for preset 1 to be clean finger pick tone, 2 for a slightly dirtier finger tone and 3 for a rocky plectrum tone, I used my Fender USA DLX P for the entire gig .
You can also use the conventional EQ by turning the presets off, the presets can store the 4 band EQ, a Tweetertone setting, a Valvetone setting, a compressor (spectratone) setting, a gain setting and one of two contour curves, it is very versatile and nice to just push a button and get another tone, great for when going from say a blues song to a rock song :D
The on board tuner is superb as is the LED for the gain level .

Now for the most important item - the sound;

I found myself playing much better and with more confidence than previously, possibly due to the increased tonal range and better clarity of sound than my GKMB210, the other band members noticed a better sound and they reacted to it too saying that my improved sound drove them on more :hyper: I could turn the bass EQ up without fear of excessive boominess, the 452 square inches of speaker area from the four 12s certainly filled the pub with lovely bass tone .

So, all in all a big thumbs up from me :hyper:

ps

The fault with my GKMB210 turned out to be the jack socket soldering come loose on my MIM P, I had put a new scratchplate on it a while ago and must have inadvertently streesed the wire when tightening the jack nut, I am still happy though as I had been gassing one of these TC rigs !!
