I just played a gig this weekend where I was in the supporting band so we used the main band's bass rig. A TC Electronic BH500 with a 4x10 TC Electronic cabinet.
I must admit, I was pretty uneasy using it. Not sure why, but since I did not have to lug my gear, it was all good.
The amp sounded pretty good. I started our sound check with how the other 2 bassists had it set (We were the 3rd act of 3 and yes we closed the night after the headliner). I did not much care for how they had it set, so I tweeked it. Got a ton more bass/low end out of it. Cleaned up the low mids and got the high mids to pop... I must admit, this amp sounded pretty damn good by the time I got it all worked up. Clean and clear, the tube emulator was able to add just enough tube to warm up the tone without sounding fake or breaking up. I was impressed. At 3am Sunday morning when I got home from the gig, I found myself searching on the internet for one. A little to pricey for a back up/practice amp, but not a bad price (Under $1000 for the top and bottom new)..
