TC Polytune - Best tuner for Bass?

I just switched from a Snark to a TC Poly.
I find it read better and is not as inconsistent as a Snark.

Plus,I can clip it on my bridge screws so I get better vibration transfer.

Handles the low B ok? Or best to tune to 12th fret octave harmonic?
I've always tuned up by ear, but to be able to tune up quietly would be useful.
Seems like the Polytune is one of the best, but it just surprises me that there are quite a few used ones for sale.

I can't tell you exactly why, but I recently picked up an absolutely mint Polytune2 pedal $50 used, and I think it was an absolute steal, and I love it. ZOMG so much better than the Snark and Snark-clones I've been using, trying to get them to register all the strings. I have a great Seiko plug-in unit, but its not a pedal-style so you had to have it up on the amp using the effects loop, and that's just a PITA, and its not lit, etc.

Maybe its because guys try to use them in polyphonic mode and don't like how that works... I just use normal needle mode and its fine. I tried to like strobe mode for a bit cuz it seemed more techy hardcore but honestly the needle is easier to use when the pedal is on the floor.

The PT2 is amazing, and honestly having a mute is hugely helpful also. I was hesitant to go to a floor pedal tuner cuz I'm generally anti-pedal, but I love the mute for swapping instruments or fiddling around etc.

Didn't know it had a mute, and I was looking at a JHS mute pedal today! Very useful.

Can't beat the Polytunes. The only reason you see them for sale is folks moving to the newest version/color of the Polytune. I sold all three of my Polytune 2's to go to the Polytune 3 which offers buffered 'always on' tuning. Then I sold two of those to get the Mini versions when they came out :)

Ya, I just don't care enough about tuners. Strobe mode, being able to see them in Florida summer sun and quick response is all I care about.

I bought a PolyTune 2 mini last year. It has been as reliable as anything to do with music that I have ever owned. I will be getting a PolyTune 3 mini, but I will not be selling my 2. Will keep the 2 as a backup and relegated to my practice room for use there.

I like it snuff Im tempted to get another just to not have to swap around from bass -> guitar rigs. Although the guitars are much better w clipons than the basses so maybe I'd try the PT clip for those...
