TC RH450 Club

Thanks Frankie, that's exactly the kind of insight that makes me appreciate this forum so much. All of the cabs I've been looking at are 100+ db/1w/1m. Guitar Center in Georgia had 2 used TC cabs, an RS210 and an RS112, so I went ahead and ordered them. They're due to arrive today.
I figure I'll try them out with and without my neo G-K 115MBE and try to decide if I want to keep both TC cabs. It's possible I might be selling the G-K cab soon, although it's not bad sounding and I do like the 30 lbs! Ah decisions, decisions...

That bass sounds great, I'm amazed how full it sounds with just the one RS210 cab. Maybe I don't need two cabs to get a big sound. UPS says my RS210 is on the truck for delivery this morning.
PS as a former lead player, I would have preferred to hear some tasteful overdriven slide over the aimless noodling that gee-tard is playing.
I have that RS112 which I retired in favour of the Markbass NY121. I found the RS112 to be really tubby. It's hard to explain but I think that huge port at the back was causing some interference. Almost like the speaker box was "ringing" or whooshing unless I tilted it up so the front was closer to my ears. Stuffing that rear port with a cloth helped to, but doing that affects the cooling ability of the speaker and it's generally not recommended.

jkramer, that was obviously controlled volume, but was that through the pa too?
Nope, only the mics and a little kick were in the PA. The gain on the head was at about 11, bass at about 1dot boost, low mid at 1 dot cut , rest of eq flat, tiny bit of comp on, so the hardest hit engages it, master prolly at like 9-10. Tweeter on the rs210 centered.
I had the whole rig for sale here and on CL, I removed the add when I got home lol. My " big rig" is a berg ae410 and a Mesa m6. The ease that I got the TC stuff loaded in was craz.
Also the sound there didn't fluctuate like it does in the video, that's the mic in my Nikon still camera doing that, the the YouTube conversion makes it even more prominent.

Yeah, can't argue with the fact that the RS210 does travel well. It was usually a one hand carry for me.
Relative to running with an RS212, I just found myself almost always choosing the 212, so I let my RS210s go.
Because of the weight and bulk I'm used to moving, I'm just loving the BG250...talk about crazy, the first time I grabbed the handle to pick it up, it felt like it was going to fly away. Your eyes and experience have you mentally prepared for twice what it feels like.
I bought my TC stuff not long before the combos like you have came out. Had I known they were coming I'd have waited and gone the same way u did.
I also got turned off TC by the info that later came out about the power rating deal. Up to that point id only used mine in relatively quiet places. I let the hype get to me and sort of wrote it off and replaced it with the Mesa and bergantino.
I started futzing with it to get it ready to sell and to my surprise really liked it. I started using it at rehearsals recently and then the party the other day and realize I was just caught up in number hype. The rig sounds great, had plenty of power in reserve, and fits in our 2012 beetle with ease. I put the speaker on top of a wheelie cooler, amp over my shoulder in its bag and bass in the other hand and wheeled the whole thing down the street to the jam. Easy peasy

Well, now that I see I've insulted a member, I'm feeling a little less enthusiastic, but I would like to report that I used the RS210 with my RH450 in rehearsal tonight and it sounded like thunder. Bandmates were knocked out.
My sound has changed radically in the past few weeks, I went from an Ibanez Promethean P5110 through a G-K neo 115MBE to the TC rig plus I replaced the flatwound strings I was using with DR Marcus Miller's. I don't sound like a blues bass player any more, but no one's complaining. It's a trio so they're encouraging me to be more present in the mix. I'm present alright!
I feel like I'm done gear hunting for now at least. The RS112 goes back to GC tomorrow and the Ibby and G-K will be listed for sale to help pay for the new gear. I'm excited to be part of the TC club. If I promise to keep my snarky comments to myself can I have a number please?

Thanks again Frankie, I haven't tried the RS112 yet and probably won't. GC in Georgia did a great job packing the RS210 for me, but they stuck the 12 in a box with no bubble wrap so the cab is now jammed full of packing peanuts :scowl:
I'm just going to take it back and let the local guys sort it out.

Glad you like the TC gear, I had an RS 112 also and recently sold it. My hope was that using it and the 210 and getting the head to 4 ohm would get me the volume I thought I'd need. Turns out there's plenty on tap without it. The guy that bought it loves it alone.

Personally, I didn't much feel affected by the controversy. My RH450 was just as loud before, during and after.
I don't know how I feel comfort-wise about the idea of a combo for gigs yet. Functionally, it can replace a head and cab, but if something goes wrong, the only way to be fully covered would be to have a second combo. I'll be prepared to go DI, if it ever happens, but that wouldn't get me fully covered.
I know there's times I want to go with the 410, but how capable the BG250 is turning out to be kind of brings me to the point of questioning where I'd choose to bring the RH and single RS212 instead. I'll have to try to spend some time with them side-by-side.

Finally got to hear YOU on the iPhone on my 3rd pair of earbuds. Finally grabbed a pair that picked up the lows. Really nice smooth sound. That will be my next rig one of these days if not with an RS212 instead of the 210. I like both but will only get one cab. Nice vocals too! You have a nice Raitt kinda voice and the KB's vocals are unique in a really good way. Prob sounded much more balanced than that camera phone. Most of the stuff we have recorded has been iPhone stuff that picks up a lot of ambiance and chit chat. Cheers!

Thanks for the number, even if temporary. I'm starting a new job tomorrow with a 90-day trial period, really have to be on my toes these days!

We can go ahead and stretch that out to 90 days for you to coincide with work, so you don't try to remember which is which and run yourself into trouble

I have been blown away by the video quality of my new still camera. The audio can be pretty good for what it is, but it picks up the chit chat really, really well. Must be in the all-purpose nature of these things.
