TC RH750 part II

Does anyone else have the soft case for the 750? I bought one last week and I am really disappointed by the poor quality. Straight out of the box it already has a tear in the inner lining which holds the padding in. The zip around the amp compartment is faulty and the velcro must be made from the same materials as the knobs because it has a very weak grip!

It appears to be of the same quality as one of those free packs that you get at tradeshows and conferences.

I cannot recommend it. :hmm:

I want to know where you got your Bass hanger from please.

I made it myself.
There is a pic of the case I use hopefully it came through D'oh upside down. Oh well I am from down under

Hmm. Mine seems fine.

Hey guy's looking to replace one of my Mesa 400+'s with something lighter. The rh750 is on the finalist list. Has anyone played this thru any Mesa 4ohm cabs? I have a PH 4/12 and 2/15 cab and was wondering how they sounded thru 4ohm Mesa cabs. If someone could compare the power of the 750 to a all tube head would be great also. My guitarist get really loud at times and we use stage volume every so often. I play metal, fingerstyle, thru a NS-2 Spector for reference.

Now that is a good looking case for your RH750!

I was wondering.. would you guys find a web application to save/share RH750 presets useful? I am creating one for myself, to "save" presets outside of my amp, and I am thinking that being able to share presets with the community would be very helpful.

Input will be appreciated!

Hi all

Some info I found on the RH750. Firstly, the latest knobs that don't break off are the SAME design, just stronger plastic/not flawed. So, if you get replacements, you might think they look different. They don't. The master vol always has had a different way of hooking onto the amp, but the other 7 are the same.

Also, Uffe appears to have left TC, which is a shame.

Ugh....so for the past few weeks I've been reading this thread about the knobs because I just recently purchased the RH750. As I read the comments I just kinda smiled because I just got the amp a few weeks ago, I have all my knobs, and I'm a new bass player so I won't be gigging anytime soon. So I thought, my knobs aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Well last night when I went into the basement to practice some shredding...I notice the DAG ON GAIN KNOB IS MISSING!! The only place the amp sits is on top of the cabinet so.....where the heck did it go? I mean I can't find it anywhere. I blamed this post...LOL...it jinxed me! Now I feel like I'm part of this thread family. And it sounds like you guys are saying TC will just send me a replacement for free?

Contact their service dept on their web page and request a new full set, just in case. They will send them out.

ROFL, while crying at the same time. Many months ago, I sent my RH750 in to have all the buttons and knobs replaced. I got it back a couple weeks later, but didn't even plug it in - it just went in its case. So, after coming across this thread tonight, I decided to unhook my TH500 in my practice room and give the ol' RH750 a spin. After I got it set up on its cab, I adjusted the gain knob, which immediately split completely in two and fell into my hand. I barely touched it. So I tested the other knobs, and each and every one except the volume knob slid right off the shaft, several after one of the little internal vanes broke.

Fortunately before I sent the amp in, I had complained to TCE about the problem, and they sent me another set of knobs which came in while my amp was at their service center. So I was able to put my reserve set on without incident, and they seem to be working, but now I feel vulnerable - I have no backup position. To be fair, TCE's customer service has been fair and prompt to respond. But as good as they are, I'd rather not be talking to them, and I'm sure they feel the same way.

So. TCE representative, if you're out there, listen up: THIS IS A SERIOUS AND PERVASIVE PROBLEM! WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T YOU FIXED IT?

<edit> OK, OK. I'm grumpy right now. This is the third set of knobs I've had on the amp. Plastic knobs retail at about 50 cents apiece. That means it costs less than a dime each to manufacture them. What would be wrong with finding a vendor who can provide the quality of knobs commensurate with the amp's quality and have them produce a different knob that will fit on the existing pot shafts? That design with the little vanes inside looks like something the company assigned to a brand new ME graduate as a first project. Well, he failed. It's time to correct the problem once and for all. To me that means a redesign of the knobs to something robust. I've owned (and still own) a lot of amps, and have never encountered a problem like this. Once you have a dependable design, you could offer the new knobs to existing owners by publicizing it here. I can't imagine it would cost you more than a few thousand dollars to make this right.

My RH450 has failed for the second time this year. Both times on gigs.

The first repair took several weeks and cost a flat rate of $180. Then after the repair it had to go back because there were screws missing. TC is an hour down the road from me so I was happy for a fix. I bought a used GK combo as a back up at the time but doesn't sound anywhere near as good as TC.

Tonight I load in for a show, hit power switch and nothing. So I'll contact TC and get it fixed but now my confidence is shaken. I've used TC/EA/Epifani/Markbass/Hartke and never had a failure until now and twice in one year is tough to take.

I LOVE the 450 for double bass and fretless but now I'm thinking I'll have to fix it and sell it and move on to another brand. Or take a risk and buy another RH and keep my repaired as a spare since the price point is so good on the amps.

**** happens but this is frustrating.

Munji's post is worth repeating. Great amp, lousy knobs. My replacement knobs are broken too, and the second set of replacements TC sent never showed up. I have since switched to a Genz amp and haven't stopped to deal with the knobs a third time. Frustration over the knobs was a big factor in my decision to mothball my RH750.

TC may have some great electrical and computer engineers, but they must use drunk college interns for their mechanical design.

I finally have an RH750 on the way to me. I can't believe I waited so long honestly, especially since I loved the RH450 and helped participate in the tweak-tests that TC did. They pretty much implemented everything I wanted in the RH750, and I'm only just now buying one.

I'm curious about the knobs because I've had two RH450's, and never had an issue with knobs or buttons on either of them. Perhaps they had a new supplier later on that had QC issues. I guess I should go ahead and get some extra knobs so I'll be ready, huh? Minor issue it seems to me as long as I have a few extras lying in the gig bag.

Anyway, can't wait to get this one in. I'm going to put it through the wringer when it arrives. I can't wait to take some scopes of the Tweetertone to see what the frequency response looks like at different settings.

Wow! That's too bad. Shaken confidence and trust is a hard thing. I'm sure there's others out there, but I don't remember seeing a single post about RHs going up. If yours has gone up twice, it would seem that it's a bad egg. My 450 was completely reliable for me, and so has my RH750 been...knobs and all.

I don't know what the deal is with the when or why of the knob issue. I bought mine at what seemed like the height of reports about the loose knobs, so I was kind of mentally prepared to be affected. Never had a problem with my RH450 or RH750.

I dropped one of my RH450's once face down on a concrete sidewalk. It took a chink out of the aluminum lip on the front of the head, and left some concrete road rash on the face of the knobs. None of them ever broke off though. Seems to me this is a supplier issue that used inferior plastic, most likely without TC's knowledge, and those kinds of issues can take some time to fix. Hopefully they are on it. Not sure how long this has been going on now, but I seem to recall it starting at least a few months back.
