TecAmp amplification club.....is there such a thing yet

+1 on not changing the head. imho there is zero reason to. The only thing that improves the Puma is running Monique and that is a completely different beast.
Puma + ML112 is sick. I'm sure that Valkyrie will be great, especially if you're willing to go for the larger form factor. I could see anyone who had an AG500 or ABM500 loving that head. I'll stick with micro for amp, but Roger nailed the cab design.
Can anyone give some info on the bad bull 2000? I am really looking to get one but was wondering how it sounds vs a puma 1000 ? I've owned 2 pumas (new and old). Anything would help!
There was a used one in the classifieds that may still be there. I'd find it and MSG the seller for info.

I am going to try to review ,my new Tecamp gear (Puma 500 1HU/ S212 4 Ohms "new grille and ceramic model). Sorry if my english is not very good. I buy from a dealer in Spain called Doctorbass (Invalid Link Removed). Thanks Joaquin!!! The best bass center here.
I have no oportunity to try old models, the updated S212 now has ceramic speakers instead of neodymium and it`s a only 1 kg more in weight (more weight due to ceramic but less due to fabric grille). Good news if weight is important to you!!. Thomas from Tecamp says that new ceramic drivers sound better than older ones, but i can say that the sound from this rig is really awesome. Very deep and precise lows and cristal clear highs, all is very comprensated and precise. Very fast note delivery and with a lot of "control". I think i would describe the sound like KJUNG said, "Anthony Jackson tone". I felt in love with it only 2 minutes after i play only the firs song. I am very happy !!!

Hey guys there is a new cab on the horzon. It's called the Virtue cab and I hear it killed at NAMM. I asked Glenn aout the cab:
Yes, the Virtue cabinet is selectable 2-12" speakers/ 2-10" speakers, or all 4. Then you can select low level or high level output from any combination of the three tweeters. There is a 4" cone tweeter, TecAmp's "standard horn tweeter, and a new tweeter that brings a bit more sparkle and extension to the overall sound.
The cabinet is typical of TecAmp's design/ "level of insight" into what we bassists really require and want for exceptional stage performance. Focussed, and colored in a way that delivers frequency response that is complimentary to performance applications onstage, in studio, or essentially with other players. Even when playing by oneself.
Price is around $1600 US, and we are taking orders at this time.

I'm a fan of the TecAmp stuff, and their 's' and 'm' cabs sound great.
This one makes no sense to me. As most know, 10's and 12's can sound the same, deeper, tighter, punchier. Cone diameter doesn't matter.
So, I can turn the 12's off and have a huge 210 box
.The multiple tweeters is kind of cool, and I really like the switchable crossover in their more standard cabs. So, I guess that kind of takes that to the next level... kind of.
This sounds like a cab designed by a probably very good but clueless bass player:
'Yeah man, give me some 10's for punch... yeah, yeah, and some 12's for fat. Yeah, man, and let me turn one off and one on for my different gigs'
Sorry for the negativity, but gosh help us all. I'm sure it probably sounds good, most likely, as good as a nice quality 212 cab with a good tweeter

All I know is that there is a parallel thread out there and witnesses say the cab is killer. I for one do not however agree that 12's sound like 10's. I play slap bass primarily and while 12's sound good, I much prefer 10's when I slap. I made a concession when I started running a 2x12 cab for more bass when I play fingerstyle. Glasstone has a rig that he's perfecting called the slap G. The principle is running 10's with 12's or a 15. Not necessarily in the same cab. I.E. 1 2x10 cab with a Lil G. There are bassists who slap and then there are guys who really can slap. Most guys I know that can really slap still want 10's. One of my Favorites, David Dyson, who can really slap runs a Glasstone 4x10, on top of a Glasstone 15'. Still wasted space or not I'm willing to bet the Virtue is a killer cab. The guys demoing the Virtue were Andre Gouche and Sekou Bunch. Gives you an idea who the target market may be.
All drivers sound different. You are confusing brand with speaker size. Compare a Schroeder 212 cab to an Acme 210 cab, and then we wil talk. Compare an Eden 210XST to an Eden 112XLT, and then we will talk some more!
Guys who can really slap want a tight low end, a bit of dip in the upper mids, and a nice tweeter. That typically was delivered in the past by 410 cabs. Times have changed.
And again, many great players are clueless as heck about how this all works ('yeah man, I need that 15 for the low end, and that 410 for the punch').
+1 though that I'm sure this cab sounds fine. I would guess many smaller, simpler less expensive designs sound, at the very least, just as good.
