My friend Andy (emjazz) is playing that head (wonderful sounding piece of gear), my friend Jason (Vision) is gigging that cab with his LMII (sounds great... he does that sort of 'Thrust/Headhunters' thing, and that cab has just the right amount of punch and burp to it to pull that off...SUPER articulate), and the amazing Michelle (Shelly) is rockin' the 70's style FBass J. I don't know the people who bought the houseGreat sounding stuff. I again was lucky enough to gig the Puma500 prototype prior to the intro of the new line (the 350 is back also... they just updated their site), and it is quite impressive stuff.
That's where I got mine. If you give Glenn the secret code, he'll waive Ken's finder's fee. ;-)
ok, i'm going to ask a bridging question. i know this has been covered for certain configurations and in general, but i'm curious about this specific and want to see if i got this right.
Assuming I just have one 8ohm cab (soon to arrive fEARful 15/6).
1 - Puma 900 is listed at "900 w (4 ohms), 600 w (8 ohms)" with no bridging option
2 - Puma 1000 is listed as "2 x 500 w (2 ohms), 1 x 1000 w (4 ohms) bridged mode" - does this also mean that it would be 500~600w at 8ohms in bridged or 2 X ~125w at 8ohms not bridged?
It seems if you had 2 X 8ohm cabs, you would be getting more watts (1000 vs 900) bridged and daisy chained with the 1000. However, with my one cab, the 900 would make more fiscal sense. I believe Ken calculated a 40w diff in favor of the 1000 earlier, so it seems a watt-wash.
now, if i were to pony up for the Jag 900:
3 - it is listed as "900 w (4 ohms), 600 w (8 ohms)" and can be bridged to "900 W Power at 4 ohms, 2 x 450 w power at 2 ohms." Does that mean the 600 w at 8ohms is calculated based on a bridged setting?
other features aside, i'm trying to get at the power difference between the Puma 900 and the Jag 900. my impression is that the Jag gives you a bridging option, but the same amount of output, overall. what do i get if i run one 8 ohm cab in the non-bridged setting? will i do damage, or cheat myself of output?
since the Jag 900 has an A & B channel setting, with B having the pass-filter/boost setting, does the bridging of it color the sound? it looks like the back has three output jacks (A/B/Bridged), so does that default to the A sound when bridged, or does it blend in the B, or some other option?

found a pic of the bag Invalid Link Removed, it looks good, but I was hoping for something similar to the Puma500 soft bag. On the other hand, without a fan, its nice to have it out of the bag with the chassis open to the air. The 900 is also considerably lighter and smaller than the older 500, you could almost fit it nicely in a neoprene netbook sleeve or something similar.
Anyone with the Puma heads ever run into an issue of them being light enough to be pulled off the top of a speaker too easily with the instrument cable? I'm wondering if you moved a bit too far or pulled on the cable a bit too hard if it would be easy to send them tumbling to the floor accidentally.

usually, I run a loop through the cabs handles to prevent pulling the amp off the cab (or pulling the cable from the input jack), but with Tecamps cup-style cab handles, this isnt possible.

that is what i figured. i've got handles on my cab, so i'm good. as a matter of habit, i would loop the cables through anyway, to prevent unexpected plug pulls or tweaking the input jack. i used to be an animated guy on stage, so it was a trick i figured out after my first accidental unplug in the middle of a show.
I got a little rubber cloth with my Puma 500 when I bought it two months ago. You put the amp on it to prevent the amp from falling of the speaker. Working fine so far.

Gig report: Had a chance to really open up the M212 in a full band club date setting with no FOH. Played in a med sized club with a killer blues band, Willie Nelsons drummer behind the kit, dude had the best shuffle feel I've ever had the pleasure of accompanying.. But I digress..
So I'm still waiting on my puma 900, I was playing through a Demeter HBP1 and 1 side of my QSC powerlight 1.4 (roughly 500 watts). I was stunned by the warmth and punch of this cab, it made the gig so much easier for me. I'm used to my accugroove cabs, and the M212 has a similar round warmth and depth that I'm used to with my 2xtri112 rig, but much quicker and punchier with tighter low mids. Also the transition to the high mids and high end was really present and seamless, super nice. I was grinning all night, and the cab barely broke a sweat. between the weight and the handle placement, really easy to schlep for a cab that size. Just thought Id share with the group!

Took the plunge. Puma 900 ordered from Glen at Austin Bass Traders.
I passed the audition and got the gig last Thursday. Lugging my Mesa M6 head is already getting tough for me after two rehearsals. The 900 seemed the way to go for a good basic, clean sounding amp that I could get a good base bass sound from and color to taste with pedals as needed.

Donovan Bankhead at Fretspot.com also sells PUMA heads. I'm buying one from him this Friday. I got an EXCELLENT DEAL on a PUMA 500. I'l be running my Brubaker Brute MJX-5 through this head and an Eden 2x12 cab for club gigs. Can't wait. I strongly suggest you conact Donovan. If you don't, you don't want to save cash.
