TecAmp amplification club.....is there such a thing yet

One more plug and I'll be quiet for now, Donovan is also an authorized dealer for Fbass. Fbass and Tecamp are a winning combo as well.

If the combo is 8 ohms and the 210 is 8 ohms I should think it would be great. One consideration is the size/stacking. If the 210 has a smaller footprint than the 212 combo, the combo might be perched somewhat precariously.

Unfortunately with the top mounted puma head, it would be awkward to place a cab on top of the combo. All that said, I bet it would be killer sounding. If the 210 is too small to safely put the combo on top, I would look into an 8 ohm m212 or m115 for the bottom, or an s212 (iirc) to match up more exactly

it arrived, and with an english manual :)

looks like it can be run as a DI box with no speakers connected. i thought that might just be the case with using the headphone 3.5mm out, but the manual sure says it is safe to run with no speaker load. can anyone verify that this has worked for them and that i'm not missing something?

Not missing a thing. You're good to go without a speaker load.

So rad.
My current project is going DI into a rack-hub via wireless (both guitar and bass, and our laptop backing tracks for drums/keys/samples all run into the rack, with the output going from the rack to the house). At our recent first show, the bass sound was OK using my PBass direct to the wireless to a SansAmp in the rack. It made it impossible to tweak my sound mid show, and the show sound changed from the check sound. I want to run a cable into the Puma with the wireless going from the line-out to the rack.

I bought a used older model Tech amp Pepman 400 in a Tech amp 2/12 airhead cabinet (one 12 facing forward and the other facing sideways inside the cabinet; pretty cool. So far my opinion is that I love the cabinet but will probably trade the head at some point for something a bit more straight forward. Great tone and pretty loud. If anyone here owns a Pepman I have questions about this that the Tec Amp company has not answered for me.

initial impression of the carry bag is diesel-powered-fail. it is a tight fit. there is an internal strap that you need to run over the eq knobs and it is wider than the space between the EQ knobs. it is to hold the amp in place if the external zipper opens. the external pocket is barely large enough to hold the power cable. not very German of them. for $35 i didn't expect much, which is in line with what i got. it is a bag that you put your amp into and then put it into another bigger bag.

Great Googly Moogly!

I'm in a whole new world here. I've got a few minutes in, and I'm typing this while making dinner. I'm running a Nash PB 63 and a Dingwall ABZ5, and my cab is a 15/6 fEARful. Previously I'd been using a Mesa M6 head.

First, the 900 is quiet and transparent. Signal noise from my M6 showed up when I plugged it in to my fearful (a new purchase too). This thing has minimal line noise. The Low EQ is great. I thought a 30hz shelf would be too low, but it seems useful for living room volume noises. The mid EQ points add tons of range. I haven't messed with the high much. The taste settings seem far more useful than some said they would be. I'm not sure how steep the taper on the master is, but I'm getting reasonable apartment living room volumes with the gain at noon and the master at 9-10 ish, which was a major no-no on my Mesa (BOOM!).

The most notable impression I came away with is the sweetness it added to my Dingwall. It has been feeling a little brittle and sterile through previous setups. The Puma may put that bass back into a heavier rotation.

Now to eat and play. Plenty of time to type at work tomorrow :)

Regarding pot taper: where do you guys run your gain level? Whereas most amps I'm used to seem to have a sweet spot between 9 and 12 o'clock, the puma (like the glock pre and the EA iamp IIRC) seem to work best with the gain between 2 and 4 o'clock. Sounds cleaner, more dynamic and has the lowest noise floor that way, to my ears. When i do this, I'm hard pressed to get the master above 10-11 oclock.

I ran the gain at about noon-1. The other EQ settings had some strong influence over the volume. What are the rest of the settings you ran J? I found I didn't need to go past 11 or 1 on any particular EQ point to get a sound I liked. I definitely cut the lows, and toyed mostly with the mids. I left the high at noon and adjusted my bass' tone knob for most trebble adjustments.

That taste knob is rad. Not as close to the VLE on Markbass as I'd hoped it would be. I'm shocked at how much I like the mid-boost side of that knob. Down around 10-11 with some muting from my fret hand, and I like what I hear.

I too think that the gain knob works best at 12 or more so here are my settings with the basses I use most of the time.

With my Lull M5V and two Aggie SL cabs: Gain between 1-3 Taste@1, Low@12, LowMid@12, HiMid@11, Hi@12 and master@10.

With my fretless Rob Allen MB-2 5-string and one Aggie:
Gain@12, Taste@12, LoMid@11, HiMid@1, Hi@12 and master@10.
