Tech 21 at NAMM

barely past noon is where dannybuoy's near flat setting puts the low knob on the vt. but in a bddi, i'd bet it could be a bit overwhelming sometimes. probably more of a case by case basis depending on the room, though.

just found out they'll be putting out a new bass distortion pedal as well.

Any pictures/ info on it yet? I can tell this is going to be a very good year... hahaha. I wonder if the VT's will get so popular that everyone will stop buying tube heads, and the prices on them (tube heads) will go down? That'd be too good to be true..

no pics, but it's called the red ripper.

btw, i doubt the vt will put a crimp in sales of tube amps. as great as the vt is, there's just nothing like that feeling of having a row or two of power tubes push your signal. i know a lot of people got it so they have tube amp sounds, but i think those who use a vt and don't use tube amps never intended to have them in the first place. i'm not giving mine up, that's for sure.

you could get that $50 vt di mod. or you could tape yours on top of a di and then it would be "one unit" ;)

Yeah, since I have a Para Driver also, I am just gonna use the Para as a DI box run after my VT Bass.

The programmable one is pretty cool though, but I rarely if ever change my tones during a set. I might if it were that easy though!

But man that many doo-dads would be bad for my OCD, bad for my OCD, bad for my OCD. . . . . . . . . . . .bad bad bad OCD OCD OCD

yeah, looks the same as the Bass Driver Deluxe, with different tone/character/blend knobs.

Yep... that's what I was thinking.... though the VT model doesn't have a blend control.

Even though it loses the FX loop and dual inputs, A VT Bass D.I. based off of the Programmable Bass Driver would probably be more than enough for most players, IMO.

....a small Class D VT bass head...wow...that would certainly change my plans if it were so...
Now that is one helluva an idea! In fact, this new pedal with the extra features built into a small amp head with Class D power should be very easy for Tech 21 to achieve. They already build amps and I'm sure the power amp bits are available pretty much off the shelf. Could take on the TC Rebelhead at a much lower price. Would have presets like the TC and should be easy enough to add a tuner too! If we could have more, I'd ask for blend on the effects loop and, maybe, blend on the VT Bass part of it too. Oh, and why not add a compressor while we're at it!

Of course, adding all the extra features probably makes it unrealistic to put into production (though I don't know) but simply this new pedal in a box with a Class D power amp of, say, 500W would sell like hot cakes!

Please, please, please Tech21!!!
