Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2 wishlist

Gigged with one a bit and really liked it. Loved neing able to just show up with a PBass and the flyrig instead of carting a whole rig around.
Agree on the oct/fuzz section -- it's useless.
Always said if they added an FX loop like the Bassbone it'd be 100% better, and it looks like they have

Sounds almost exactly like v1 to me. I can't see exactly the settings he used but the compressor seems even more intense in v2 than in v1.

If anything, this makes me want to get the PSA 2.0. Same player, same recording techniques, the tones demoed here are to die for, I don't get that same vibe from the Fly Rig v2. If PSA 2.0 had a DI and a Tuner I'd have already bought one.

Wow, that does sound really good! How does it sound so punchy? There is no comp in the PSA, is there? Could it have an advantage that he‘s playing on top of the original tracks? I really miss the XLR Out as well, it kept me from buying one.

Love mine, but then again I've had the rack for years. You can tweak it to your hart's content. But once you have it dialed in, OH MY GOODNESS! 95% of my sound is there. I can do most my gigs with just that. Anything on top of that is just gravy. Right now I'm testing drives. It takes to distortions and drives like nothing else. It really reacts like an amp! It's going to be at the engine of the midi/switching set up that I'm working on (Along with the Boss MS-3). Because of the size I don't think you can have both XLR and MIDI. I for one, am glad it has MIDI....

The heart of my board is the psa 2.0 and boss ms3 combo. Psa is an absolute beast of tone.

Do you really need more than 3 sounds live and if so, how do you use them? Do you bring your own DI for gigs? What made you chose the PSA 2.0 over the other pedals that are more catered for bass?

I do think the intention is very good and for me personally, they actually decided on exactly the right bass effects: Compression, Octave Divider, Fuzz, Envelope Filter and Chorus. BUT: If you really decide on putting them into a box, they have to be crazy good! An octave divider that doesn't track well is a no go, a comp that only works up till 9 o'clock is too limiting. Also, not everybody uses all of these effects. Most of us prefer special circuits.

In the end, it feels like extra functionality that a lot players do not use. Personally, I would have loved version 2 to be a PSA 2.0 with built in tuner, compression, XLR out and with the VT Bass & BDDI circuit and an FX loop. That's it.

Headphone amp is out as I understand it.
Apparently people were forggeting to turn it off resulting in a very hot signal they thought was a malfunction :)
All and All I dont think about V2 as better or worse,just a bit different.

I don‘t care for the headphone option on my DP-3X either. If the device doesn‘t have an AUX input there‘s no real use to me. When I just want to practise, nothing beats the battery powered Fender Mustang Micro that connects via Bluetooth. It‘s just less cables and dead simple.

It must be horrible for a company to make final decisions on the feature set of a product like this. Everybody has his own opinion.

Yes my board has 2 di outputs on it right now. Essentially one at the beginning of the chain and the last pedal is a dark glass alpha omega ultra. I can use the eq on the AOU at the end of the chain to adjust to the room and this gives me a lot options.

I went with the PSA for a few reasons but the main goal was great tone plugged into my own equipment, back line equipment, or straight to front of house. The psa does that. I can fine tune each of my tones specifically for each of my bases if I want to.

I understand some people like simplicity and others like bells and whistles. The psa 2.0 was a sweet spot right in the middle for me.

I dig my Bass Fly Rig v1, but was disappointed it used only the VT engine with none of the Bass Driver DI engine, so I kept my old BDDI in my pedalboard for the times I need that scooped “clang” tone. V2 adds in the BDDI tones, but it looks like the channel pedal will select between 2 VT tones or 2 BDDI tones (not 1 of each). The v1's chorus is useful and includes an eq boost so you don’t lose bottom end. After some effort I did manage to coax a good envelope filter sound out of the Octa section of my v1, but brush a knob by accident and it’s gone. None of the other settings in the Octa section were useful for me, which too bad since I use octave effects often (Boss OC2 for Pino/Tony Levin sub stuff and a TC Sub-n-Up to simulate an 8 string bass).
