Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig v2 wishlist

Dumb question - assuming the fly rig is my only pedal why would I care about the FX loop?

Also, removing the tone knob on the compressor is a weird choice. I was able to do some cool stuff with that knob.

I can't help you with the tone knob, but I'm thinking they got a lot of feedback about wanting to put a thing in between the other things. I know if I were to replace my stuff with a BFR, I'd need some sort of ambiance generator to go in there so I don't need a seperate DI.

If you don't use it that way, I'd go with v1.

I wonder if you can use the effects loop as an aux in for practice? Looks like the tone control for the compressor is gone, no boost switch and the character knob is now a switch? I wonder if that will limit the overdrive tone options? I guess we will see.

All I know is that if they would have ditched the chorus, split the OctoFilter section into three separate switches and kept everything else the same, I would buy one.


They could have also eliminated the Comp footswitch and just made it a selectable small button, since it would likely be always on - that would have kept the form factor.

I'm hoping the character button changes the drive control to the character control and back. It's probably wishful thinking.

Are you telling me they took a look at everything regarding that pedal and decided that it only needed an effects loop and another channel for the next version? Massively disappointed.

They could have taken out the useless octaver and replaced it with perhaps an envelope filter, or a looper function. Does anybody actually use octave as a bass effect much? I just simply can't believe they thought that was the best thing to leave there.

Well, lots of bassists love their octave pedals (re: @SgtHulka), but the dumbest thing they did was kept the fuzz, filter, and octaver together on the one footswitch.

I don't feel I hear octavers in a lot of music, but you certainly could be right.

I was caught off guard big time when I went through the Sweetwater catalog last night to see that. I guess I would like to see the manual to learn more about the two drives, levels and character switch to see how they all interact. So far I don’t see myself upgrading. Would rather invest in rack gear for a compact home setup.

In fact, if you google "bass fly rig v2" the search results are

1. Tech21's website that still shows v1
2. Sweetwater's website that shows v1 discontinued
   
3. This forum thread

So the current product isn't supported and the next one isn't out yet
