Tech 21 SansAmp pedal question on distortion

hi all, anyone have a link to some sound clips for a Tech 21 SansAmp 3-Channel Programmable Bass Driver DI or can answer a question?

i was looking to emulate something close to the band "muse" songs like starlight, time is running out and hysteria. i know the bassist for muse uses big muffs (among many, many, many other effects) but, i wasnt sure how the distortion on this pedal is.

ive heard clips on utube but theyre mostly clean and the distorted sounds arent cranked up gain. so, wanted to know if anyone knows if this pedal will give this sort of sound. i could go for the big muff now but, if the sans amp does this effect hopefully i can leave it out. been hearing nothing but good from this pedal and didnt know what its range was, the clean stuff sounds great !

I had the PBDDI and overlooking my Sansamp dislike,...I don't recall ever getting it to sound anything like what you hear in Muse songs, even with the drive cranked. That said I've never really tried to replicate Chris W's tone on anything, so it could be possible, but to my mind the PBDDI doesn't have the type of gain that a Fuzz pedal has.

There is a Chris W. gear thread floating around the effects subforum; if you are trying to cop his tones then I'd search that out. I'm pretty sure he replaced the muff with the Human Gear Animato (rare Japanese Fuzz) at some point in his career. I think I've also heard a lot of ZVEX Woolly Mammoth tones on Muse songs.
