Tech 21 VT Bass DI

I've got the VT rack version on pre-order from Sweetwater. My rep told me they were expecting a shipment around May 2nd (that was on last Monday Apr 22nd). He did say that it could be a week or to after that though, since they are at the mercy of Tech 21. I'm supposed to get an email when the shipment arrives at Sweetwater. Will let you guys know.

FYI - info I got from Tech 21 was June now for the VT-RM.

I ended up buying a used RBI instead. I already have the VT Bass v2 pedal, didn't want to wait for the RM.

Sounds as good as I hoped!! There's something about the KIND of compression it has...in no way does it choke the low end, I think that's it...
You can really dig in and it won't squeeze the guts! Ya know?

I've only been able to play it through my little practice amp...
Can't wait to have it in the big rig!

Got mine yesterday too! I am not using it as a effect/preamp though.....using it as an amp emulator/DI to FOH. I spent some time running it into my little powered mixer/PA speaker and I think I have a killer tone locked in......but I'll know better this weekend when I run it in the big system. I've owned the other versions of the VT and this one I like the best.

I'll chime in also. Had mine for several days now. I REALLY like this one. The BITE control is what I've been asking for, as in being able to turn it off, which removes all that clankety crap that the previous VT's had. I no longer have to run the treble down around 9 o'clock just to try to control that harshness. The pedal is smooth sounding when disengaged, and then you can use the treble knob to dial up the amount of "presence" you want. Sounds wonderful, and the Blend is fantastic which I've also asked for around here forever.

Now, only one more step for Tech 21...a VT Bass DI Deluxe, please. :D

I've been playing around with this as well. I've settled on the BITE being off because I just can't get that harshness out of my tone with it engaged. Ill even drop the treble to about 9am and its still there if I grind into it. It def smooths it out and the treble knob can then bring in the right amount of pleasing presence. I think this was the main reason I never cared much for the other version. The BITE control really was a make or break for me keeping this one. I'm digging the tone I got now......can't wait to run it into the big PA this weekend. :)

Same here. The default voicing in the previous models was just way to harsh. I know that's good for the rock grinders out there, but it pretty much made it unsable for smoother players like myself. Turning the bite off really makes this pedal extremely versatile. I still like leaving the speaker sim engaged though, and then blend that in with some dry signal, perhaps around 60% wet (which can be a very different location of the blend control depending on how high the Drive control is set since they dry and wet have two different gain structures). End result is that it's easy to get a warm, tube drive tone from this.

Quick question for the early owners of this unit...

#1. Is this a 9volt powered unit or just phantom power or? I haven't found much in the way of tech specs on this guy...or at least nothing that defines that portion of it

#2. I am looking to buy this as a "in case my Aguilar amp rig dies and I need a DI quick type" addition to a pedalboard I am putting together...so I want to have it on in case of that emergency...would I be able to utilize it as an overdrive/fuzz "stompbox"(by hitting the footswitch on it) but I am not sure what signal is sent when it is NOT engaged...just a clean DI or the DI with tone controls as set on the unit ??? Sorry...I worded that horribly...but maybe you wil get the jist of it!

Sorry to interject...just figured someone that physically has one would be able to assist...thanks!
