I tried something interesting this past weekend...

I ran my VT Bass into the "Amp In" jack on my re-tubed Traynor YBA-200, which in effect bypasses the wonky pre-amp... I didnt have alot of time to mess with it, but I REALLY dug the time I had to mess with it... VT emulation + real tubey goodness = WHOAAAA...

Here's an SVT setting I liked quite nicely:

Level: 1:30
Mid: 2:30
Character: off
Drive: 8:00
Low: 10:00
Hi: Off

Hi Jimmy, cheers for your input in this thread, your contribution has helped a great deal in convincing me to pick up a couple of these little boxes of awesomeness :)

Can I just check with you, are the settings you posted meant to mimick an SVT with the tone controls all set flat (12 o'clock) or the sound you normally like to tweak your SVT for?

My VT arrived today. I have tried it through the Ashdown with my Precision and i'm totally into it !!
I found it really easy to get the VBA tone from it as well as loads of others including a fantastic SVT tone of course.
Like others have said it can't totally reproduce the tube feel and touch response but it's still one hell of a sound !
I imagine recording with it would be a dream and i'm hoping to do that soon.
Looking forward to saturday's gig so i can put it through the VBA as i reckon that combo will be just amazing !!

I'm very very impressed.

I've had mine for a week now and I can make adjustments on the fly now to change the mids and volume at my amp to compensate for drive and character changes.

For me it only lacks the air push and a drop of the solidity I feel as compared to using a real tube amp; the tonal change when using RH dynamics and attack are identical when it's in that easily found sweet spot that imitates a tube amp on the edge of breakup. This is the single best feature for me when playing reggae, as my tone involves just a little breakup on the leading edge of every note, and a little push gives the most beautiful low end tube growl to the lower notes. It also works beautifully for rock tones.

I really give credit to Tech 21 for the real life usefulness and musicality of this box. It seems magical to me, in all honestly.

Glad you and Joey liked those settings!

It mimicked the sound of the first channel normal input of my 69 SVT at a medium clean volume speaker-DI'd into my computer with a H&K Red Box Classic. All tone settings were flat, no tone switches engaged.
