I agree, that would be a nearly-ideal setup for a large percentage of gigs.
Cyrus- love ya, man!
I'm thinking about getting the VT tonight and trying this out.

I posted one usable setting. And it's not really that they're lame...they're just not what I think of when I play a B-15 or an SVT. Too much distortion, not enough clean.JimmyM, so what are the usable settings for VT bass for different settings? Since the ones with the packaging are lame.![]()
Jimmy - did you just save me $150? I just got an LMII and find it really does put out a fairly warm tubey sound. VT isn't going to do anything the VPF/VLE doesn't?I get a sound that I think is a good match for the B-15 with the VT, then I turn it off to compare to the LMII, and they're identical![]()
Yes to the last 3 questions. The first two require a bit more detail:
Bassorama, the one thing the VT will do that the LMII won't is overdrive and slight tubey breakup. If that's not important to you, save your money.
Varunkapahi, it does respond to playing dynamics. If you play lighter, it does clean up as opposed to digging in where it gets nastier. That was one of the things that most impressed me about it. It's not quite like a tube amp, but it's pretty darn close.

Jimmy - changed my mind. How do you run this through your LMII? Bass->VT->Amp Input or through the effects loop?
i actually had my first negative experience with the vt last night. i have been gigging this thing steady since probably 2 weeks after they were released. overall i love it, but last night i played the worst stage i have played in a while. horrible sound no matter what. extremely boomy. i had literaly almost no time to get my eq as while we were setting up the clubs music was blasting. we got literally about 5 minutes to sound check everything. usually this is no problem, my rig sound fab and a slight tweak of my onboard preamp gets me my tone. but this stage was muddier than a swamp and all that chewy goodness of the vt just seemed to make things worse. there was no time to tweak it so i ditched it and played straight in to the amp. at least the sound was ok out front but it was not a pleasant experience. i have no doubt that if i had had 15 minutes to myself without the loud ass music blairing i could have made it work, so this isn't a really negative review just a negative experience.
That's exactly why I've never liked modeling before the VT...veiled and lifeless...good choice of words. However, I just read in BP that Robert DeLeo uses a PodXT as his preamp into a QSC power amp on the road now because he found the exact sound of his bass going through a 61 Bassman (his recording rig). So maybe they've gotten better since the last time I checked in on Line 6.How would y'all compare this stomp to the corresponding amp sims (SVT, B15) in the PODXT? I have the big bass POD XTPRo, and pretty much only use it for that, so it's a big thing to haul around just for a little amp sound.
Plus, I've always felt pretty luke warm about the sound of the POD to begin with--it sounds a bit "veiled" and lifeless to me.
